Hi

To all the UK based folks...

Is shirtpocket still trading and anyone bought anything from them recently? i have been ringing their number since the beginning of the week & no reply.

I want to order an item, but not sure how reliable they are for delivery etc.

I don't think they are still in business, maybe unofficially. I tried to order some stuff from them a couple of months ago but ran into a dead-end.

Waited nearly 2 months for a C3000 from them and couldn't get in touch with them in the meantime (lots of frustration). But I know at least one person that got a C860 in a matter of days and could get them on the phone to sort things out at the last minute (he changed the delivery address).

I'll stay away from them unless someone finally answers the phone which would probably mean that they would have resolved their relocation problems.

My C1000 came today. I nevre could get a hold of Shirtpocket via email or phone. I got an email on August 15th saying the order was complete and it arrived this morning. But it turns out it's not quite right. THey sent me a WiFi CF card (not ordered) and did not send me the leather case I did order.

I placed the initial order July 19th. Were I ordering again I'd try someone else. At lest someone who I could contact more effectively. note, the reason I did not use Dynamism at the time was as far as I could tell (never called and should have) from the website they just had C3100s available. I didn't want a 3000/3100 when a 1000/1100 (didn't know about 1000) should do me just fine. Biggest isssue witth the 3000 is I suspect - no proof (if someone has it share please!) - that the battery does not last nearly as long since it must also power the 4GB HD. Battery life is a big concern for me.

According to everybody's impressions the HDD on the 3100 doesn't have much impact on the battery at all, as the drive spins down after use. I think people have been reporting life very much the same as the other clamshells.

The big complaint I have heard is the 3000 is a bit sluggish from suspend, a problem the 3100 remedied with more flash.

My other problem is jogging.  I had a 1gb ibm microdrive.  I use to pull the card in and out like crazy and in 2 days, i killed it.  No more microdrives i told myself.  When i jog, i am afraid jerking the zaurus around hard can damage movable parts inside.

Any proof on this concern?

at least battery life myth is debunked....but im sure continous use of it such as watching videos or playing movies will change the users mind.

Cresho,

You actually jog with your Z? That is amazing. There's no way I would ever want to carry something as heavy as my Z when I jog (30-36 miles a week). I suppose if you run on a treadmill it might be okay, but I run on the streets. I'd be afraid of dropping it.

As far as microdrives go, I have a Creative Zen Micro and it has one of the Seagate drives. They were engineered to take the bumps and jolts from exercising. So far no problems with it. I've even toyed with taking the HDD out of it to use with my Z
