Some Applets Disappeared From The Taskbar
« on: September 04, 2005, 05:01:15 am »
Clock applet have disappeared from the taskbar on my Z running CACKO ROM 1.22 .

The library (libclockapplet.so) exists in QPEDIR/plugins/applets and links with all necessary libraries (I checked that with ldd). But the clockapplet is not displayed and when I click on the applet that shows the list of available applets (a small dot between battery and card applet), clockapplet is missing.

Is there a config file that lists the applets that are loaded when Qtopia starts? How loading/unloading applets is controled? Anybody knows what can be wrong with that clockapplet?

Thanks.

There is an excellent tool for this: SubApplet
http://sourceforge.net/projects/subapplet/

It allows you to select which applets to load and also installs a second applet bar that greatly removes clutter from the main bar.
Basically this is a better tool than the one included with Cacko.

Perhaps this helps...

Thanks for the link.

subapplet seems to be a very nice app for organizing applets, but unfortunatelly it does not work for me: when I click on the subapplet icon, the narrow bar above the taskbar is empty except an (i) button on the left (for openning the subapplet settings).  the subapplet settings shows a long list of applets (event such that I have never seen in my task bar), but disabling them (by switching from a tickmark to a cross) has no effect.

Something seems to be wrong on my system. Does anybody have an idea what I can check?
