Oz 3.5.4 Release Date?
« on: September 09, 2005, 09:01:02 am »
Now 3.5.3 has been "out the door" for a while, is there any progress towards 3.5.4?

Am especially interested in a version for the 860.

Paul
Gemini 4G/Wi-Fi owner, formerly zaurus C3100 and 860 owner; also owner of an HTC Doubleshot, a Zaurus-like phone.

Seconded. Well, the release notes in the wiki already mention 3.5.4, so there's hope.

I dunno.
It seems to me that people keep pushing for fast oz releases then bitching when the release is still clearly unstable. Give 'em time.

I agree I am just eager since I just got my c3000 and am having trouble with 3.5.3 so I am hoping to get 3.5.4 soon.

It seems to me that a -current/-unstable release, constantly evolving along the stable release would allow much more testing before a release...

I will try it on my c3000 and report on the results good and bad (hopefully more good than bad     ) Keep up the great work guys this would only be a geek toy pda without guys like you who turn it into a mini Linux laptop. I use this for some of my INFOSEC assessments it rocks!

Mickey, that's great news, thanks a lot. I know that this is asking too much, but it would be great to have a GPE image for the Akita as well.

Update #2: Ooops...This post actually has nothing to do with OZ 3.5.4. However, some of asm-nai's builds are using a 2.6.14 kernel, which may interest some.
Update: Forgot to mention that this is for the C3000 only. Sorry for any confusion!

asm-nai appears to have already made available some 2.6.14-based OpenZaurus builds for the C3000, with both Opie and GPE: http://www.naismith.sakura.ne.jp/feed/rom/
(from WanderingZaurusWiki)

* Caveats *
WanderingZaurusWiki is in Japanese.
I have been unable to test these builds for myself yet, so use at your own risk. I am not even sure if they are in English and/or Japanese.

I see a directory structure at:  http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.4-RC/

Guess that's just a skeleton and the RC build has not happened yet?

The RC build is underway atm. I'll upload images during the next 48 hours. Any preferences of machine/image combination?
