Read-only File System
« on: September 09, 2005, 01:23:13 pm »
Hi, I want to copy a piped logread file from /home to my /mnt/cf by cp /home/log /mnt/cf/log, I get an error: unable to open /mnt/cf/log: Read-only file system
If I go to file managment and I check the permission on the CF, I got read owner, group, others. Write: owner and execute owner, group n others

If I try to add write others, I get "error setting ownership or group".
So is it possible to copy stuff from opie to a cf?

Thanks

You have to set the write permissions for the card in fstab,

Si
C750 OZ3.5.4 (GPE, 2.6.x kernel)
SL5500 OZ3.5.4 (Opie)
Nokia 770

Thanks but the fstab is fine (it was set to default so rw was enabled).
oh well, I've juste reflashed the rom and now it's ok.
Thanks

... it might be that the filesystem is damaged - & to protect further data-loss the system doesn´t allow to mount it rw. If the card is fat, vfat ... I recommend to insert it into a M$-Windows system and to check/fix the filesystem.

Linux can do this as well - but I don´t remember the command(s)

Patrik
