Shoutcast Player On The Zaurus
« on: October 01, 2005, 06:09:10 am »
hello,

i've just found Shoutcast player for the Z :

1-get it here :
http://hake.syuriken.jp/shoutcast/index.html

2-install latest ruby and ruby-qte foudn here:
http://sourceforge.jp/projects/zaurus-ja/f...se_id=5690#5690

3-have your internet connection up

4-launch shoutcast player!

i believe it works with mplayer so you should have it installed
search button seems to be the top righ one

5-listen and enjoy!

jpmatrix,

Excellent recommendation. All that is needed now is some minor translations in the shoutcastplayer.rb file.

Thanks

I ran it through google and I saw that it's GPL (I think - the translation wasn't the greatest), was there a link to the source anywhere (so it can be added to OE)?

...And here is the translated (to english) version of the source - thanks to google.

For those interested.

a. copy attached file to /home/QtPalmtop/bin
b. change the extension from .txt to .rb
c. change the shoutcast icon to run shoutcastplayer_en.rb.

Thanks.

Awesome find! One more reason to carry the Zaurus everywhere instead of a laptop.

Thank you!

Yes but it studders and stops and crashes like mad.

I used to have xmms on my zaurus to play streams and it did it nearly flawless.  But I reflashed with the watapon rom and forgot how to install xmms

I'll give this a try, thanks!

This is very nice. I can stream 128kbps music with no problem over my bluetooth connection to my Mac. It seems to crash if I put anything in the Search box though. And yes, it is GPL.

From the look of it, it's not really a player, more of a browser (much like streamtuner - http://www.nongnu.org/streamtuner/).
