Thinking About A Sl-c3100

Because I loathe adaptors  ...  and my C1000 didn't come with something suitable, but as you correctly say the 3100 does.  Sorry, I forgot about that!

The USB/Charging cable is a godsend.

If the charging unit that comes with the C3100 is adequate why would you want a different one?

Size. It is a matter of size and convennience. The charger does a great job sitting at home, but while on the road, you want something smaller that fits in your pocket

I don't need a charger to fit in my pocket so the supplied one should be fine.

PS: you might want to read my zbook to get some more ideas about the Z

Too late!    I've already skimmed through your web site (very useful) and bookmarked it for future reference.

Excellent stuff  .  At €669, pulster are bloomin' cheap especially as that includes VAT and a few other bits, too...

Thanks. The price today (21.11.2005) is 449 EUR for C1000 and 649 EUR for C3100.
You will get a new boxed Zaurus with all Sharp accessories included. Plus extra: USB Host cable and 220V mains with European plug included for free.

Inside EU there is no VAT/duty to be paid. Shipping is 14,90 EUR to any country in the world.

Happy ordering :-)

Alternatively: pricejapan has the C3100 for 459 Euros and the C1000 for 315 Euros - shipped via EMS. ( You need to get a price qoute - as the prices on their main page are slightly higher )

I can't believe, that taxes and such warrant the price difference...  (and by the way: Pricejapan puts a (much) lower value on the package - reducing potential VAT/duty significantly )

Wow, that price at pricejapan has come down a bit (hasn't it?) !  Don't forget to add on the host cable (I guess €15), adaptor (€5?), 3.3% paypal fee if you want to pay via credit card, then VAT on the lot.  That's still comfortably under €600 though.

I guess that pricejapan will, likely as not, always be the cheapest as they charge a 5% handling fee.  Doing business in an EU country when you have to ship something in, certify its sutability (the CE mark) and provide the support associated with running a business around it will probably be more expensive even before VAT and any other duties are taken into account.

Still, at least multiple options are opening up in the EU, and the great news is that every one of them seems to be staffed by people who know what they're talking about, and who have been in the handheld business for years.  Trisoft, pulster and figlabs all appear to have very knowledgeable and enthusiastic people, and all of them appear on this board which again can only be good.

I suppose it depends on whether price is more important than support?

Barry has already bought his, but hopefully this thread still being around might help others.
