It's Too Late Now!
« on: October 21, 2005, 04:30:25 pm »
I've just transferred payment to PriceJapan and placed an order for an SL-C3100. Now I have to sit and wait!!!

Can someone confirm something for me? I'm going to try the Trisoft backup method of Anglicising it and I'm assuming that I should copy the backup file onto a CompactFlash card in it's .gz state and not unzip it first - is that right?

Could the process go wrong and is there a way out if it does?

Congratulations! Good choice!

You can use either a SD or a CF with the Trisoft file. Make sure, that you use this: [a href=\"http://www.trisoft.de/download/C3100-2005-06-27-12-00.zip]http://www.trisoft.de/download/C3100-2005-06-27-12-00.zip[/url]

It has to be unzipped, and nothing can go wrong, because if it unzips correctly, that means that it is not corrupt.

By the time it arrives, Cacko 1.23 might well be out for the C3100 - strongly recommended!

Well it arrived yesterday (Thursday) and I've managed to convert it to English and not into a paperweight.    What a nice little thing!

One of the uses which I envisage is looking at TIFF images on my camera cards. I have written a simple script using ImageMagick 'resize'.  My first task is to copy the script onto the Zaurus which is proving difficult. Where do I have write permissions to put it? That question produces yet another - how do I gain access as root?

If I do manage to get the script installed is there any way I can get it called automatically whenever a CF card is inserted or removed?

Where and how do I install just the ImageMagick 'resize' binary to the Zaurus?

My script should then be able to copy, resize and convert to JPEG all the TIFF images on my camera card to - where? Where do I have permission to create a directory for these images to be written?

Once this is all working I can then view the JPEG images with the built in viewer.

I have done a lot of searches on the above without success although I have managed to install a Terminal package (.ipk) successfully.
