Wifi Not Working On Cacko 1.22 And 1.23
« on: October 31, 2005, 10:11:49 pm »
I installed cacko lite 1.22 on my sl-c700, the 1.23 lite on my 3100, the 1.23 standard in the 3100... all of them exactly the same behavior, when I insert the wifi card nothing happens, then I go to the network settings and I click on add, then I add a standard connection and then I click on connect (I have tryed checking and unchecking the autoconnect option) then the wifi card just tried to connect, the wifi light blinks and it simply doesn't connect at all... I'm on a hotspot without any WEP or protection, a very very open wifi... the wifi simply doesn't connect...  my card is WCF11 linksys. On the standard sharp rom the card worked very well.

Could someone tell me what I must do to have the wifi working on cacko ?

I have the same problem with a Dlink DFC-660W and a C3100. The card is recognized, but I can connect to my open wifi. I can connect when I use the standar rom, but not if I install tetsu kernel over the standar rom.

my carctl ident:

Socket 0:
  product info: "D-Link", "DFC-660W", ""
  manfid: 0xd601, 0x0005
  function: 6 (network)

Anyway, good work Anton, you will receive my donation in a few days.

Looks like there is a typo in configuration file. Edit /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf file and remove a comma between "... Inc." and "Wireless...":

Then restart pcmcia (/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart) and reinsert the card

Are you sure it's DFC-660W?  There is an entry for DCF-660W in configuration files. Also I have a box from this card and it also says DCF-660W on it.

You are right. It's DCF-660W. A typing mismatch. Sorry.

Remove?   You meant insert a comma, right?

No, I mean remove. At least that's what comes out of the info you've posted.

Not good, if I remove the coma in the hostap_cs.conf then it says that my card is unsuported...
I have also tryed to remove the come after the Linksys Group,  (who knows) but in both cases it says simply unsuported card...

and the cards continues without working...  '-_-

I remark that in the line for my card in hostap_cs there is no manfid defined...

|From a posting by Bob Jamison on the Sharp forums:
|
|I got a Linksys WCF-11 card working nicely on this thing. All it takes is |adding this entry to the /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.conf file:
|
|card "Linksys WCF11 11Mbps 802.11b WLAN Card"
|manfid 0x0274, 0x3301
|bind "prism2_cs"

This doesn't work either...
I will seek around...

I have put the config like this :

card "Linksys WCF11 v2.5"
manfid 0x0274, 0x3301
bind "hostap_cs"

as it seems there is no prims drivers, in any case the Zaurus is unable to make any connection... with the configuration up here at least the card is succefully identified and initialized, but it doesn't connect to any network, the light just blinks and blinks without establishing any comunication.

Try typing iwconfig in console when card is trying to connect - that sometimes help.

this is strange... I'm writing from my 3100 with cacko now. after playing around a lot it detects the card but doesn't connect to the open wan of my neighbord. then tired of trying I configured my private wan with wep and suddently it connects...what the holy ? I was unable to connect to my wan with the sharp rom at all but then my cacko refuses to connect to an open wan but very happily connects to my wep wan...

humm... I'm really lost om this one, I'm guessing that for some reason cacko can't connect to the wan of my neighbord, even if this one is open... I will try to find other wans to test more...but very very strange...

the linksys family use a compression of data in their wans, I have got troubles in the past with my laptop trying to connect to a linksys wan who had 4x activated, maybe for some reason cacko identifies wrong in the open wan and then receives compresed data or something like that, I really have no idea. The fact is my laptop can connect to the wan, sharp rom also, but cacko refuses to connect... the reason ? unknow to me...
