Cacko Rom 1.23 Is Released
« Reply #75 on: November 21, 2005, 12:10:42 am »
I have been using the original sharp ROM and decided to try Cacko 1.23 it's all loaded up and looking very nice on my C1000 probleem is it doesn't recognise my wifi cards: SanDisk Connect Plus and Planex GW-CF11H.  The sharp ROM never saw the SanDisk but the Planex worked no problem.  I will willing donate money to this project if someone can get me running all I want is: Kismet, Kphone and at least one of the cards working and possibly Gaim.

If it is not possible perhaps I should use another ROM?

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I think you need to calm down, it's really just a matter of checking that the PCMCIA subsystem recognises the cards when they're plugged in.

Please run the following commands and tell us what the output is:
cardctl ident
cardctl status

what we're looking for is the manufacturer information.
Gemini 4G/Wi-Fi owner, formerly zaurus C3100 and 860 owner; also owner of an HTC Doubleshot, a Zaurus-like phone.

Try to add the following to the /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf

card "PLANEX GW-CF11H Wireless CF Card"
version "PLANEX COMMUNICATIONS INC.", "PLANEX GW-CF11H Wireless CF Card",""
bind "hostap_cs"

Then reboot your Zaurus and reinsert the card

hi, maslovsky!
i want to ask you a question
how can you make the symbol wifi card directly supported in cacko?
i am using c3000 and sharp rom 1.11 and 18a kernal(the cacko 3kbeta have a nasty bug...)
i want to try kismet and Wellenreiter
but the card is recognized as a lan card instead of wifi card
how can i config it to be a wifi card?

it is supported. you need to change kismet.conf where it specifies the device.

you means a the card is recognized as a lan card and still ok?
in fact, i have only tried Wellenreiter..i can capture packet but they are recognized as wired packet ....

for the kismet...i found it quite difficult to setup even for a normal card....
i guess it won't work..because wellenreiter dont work...
i may try it later when i have time

Maslovsky,

I have made a couple of minor changes to the following, it is now correct.  This probably sounds stupid but how do I edit the config file?  I can not open it with HancomWord, is there a console prog I use?

PLANEX
Socket 0:
product info: "PLANEX COMMUNICATIONS INC.", PLANEX GW-CF11H Wireless CF Card
", ""
manfid: 0xd601, 0x0005
function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
no product info available

SANDISK
Socket 0:
product info: "SanDisk", ConnectPlus"
manfid: 0xd601, 0x0101
function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
no product info available

Thank you again

OK I was being a plonker I have gone back to my old way of editing the config files: copy the config to an SD card and then edit it on my Laptop using MS Word then copy back again.

I have made the changes you suggest and now when I plug the Planex GW-CF11H it recognises it as follows:

DemarcTech Relia-Wave 180mW 802.11b WLAN Card

It will not connect in the network area as a wireless card or as a WLAN card which is what it thinks it is - what next I feel like we are making progress.  Also what about the SanDisk?

Many Thanks Again for your time - will definately make a donation when it's working

Anton,

Since we are talking here about the compatibilities of Cacko 1.23, I would like to know if the Ambicom BT card (BT2000-CF: new model, white label) is supported under the new kernel. I remember reading somewhere in this forum something about the support for the new card, but I can not find it. I am waiting for my new C3100 that should arrive today or tomorrow and hoping this card that I had "getting dust" on the shelf might work.

Thank you in advance for any input.

Regards from the Tropics

If the "white" label card is the same as "blue" label one, then yes, it's supported.

Very interesting...  Try a different config:

card "PLANEX GW-CF11H Wireless CF Card"
manfid: 0xd601, 0x0005
bind "hostap_cs"

Also what about the SanDisk?

SanDisk is currently only supported as CF storage card.

I've tried the new configuration and I got the same result.  I thought I would try deleting the entry completely and rebooting to see if I got not recognised and I got the same result even though the card wasn't mentioned.

I thought what the hell and reinstalled the ROM, plugged in the card and hey presto it wasn't recognised, I tried updating the config file with both configs and this time nothing it just wasn't recognised, I am at a loss, I don't think I have done anything differently?  Are there any libs I should install?  The config files are definately updating with word as I checked the results.  Please help I am desparate as I can only get online by plugging into the LAN with my Buffalo card.  If you cann't solve the problem which card should I buy that will work in CACKO with kismet, Kphone, and Gaim?

Hello,
I flashed my C760 with Cacko 1.23-lite.

1. minor problem:
magnified applications have too big OK and Cancel buttons in titlebar.

2. big problem:
the well known problem: using a billionton CFGPS card is not like plug'n play ;-)
starting gpsd or "cat /dev/ttyS3" after "stty 4800 < /dev/ttyS3" freezes my zaurus.

I tried every hint I found on this and other forums, except changing serial_cs.o.

But serial_cs is in the ROM part and not changeable, from my newbee point of view.
(I tried as su with chown and chmod without success.)
But on the other hand I don't know the right serial_cs version, because the suggested version is not available. (This might be problem 3.)

everything worked fine on the old sharp rom.

Does anyone has any further ideas?

Thanks
