IMPORTANT:  This ROM requries a flash partition at least 19 MBytes in size!
Make sure to repartition your internal flash before updating ROM!

    1. Extract the 3 files - initrd.bin tools.tar - to the root of your CF or SD/MMC card.
    2. Make sure that Zaurus isn't plugged into AC power.
    3. Remove battery for at least 5 seconds.
    4. Replace battery (replace battery cover, lock cover), plug in AC power.
    5. Press and hold the "OK" button on the keyboard.
    6. Turn the power on, you should see the Japanese service menu.
    7. Now Plug in the Power Cord. (You will get an error if it isn't plugged in!)
    8. Select option 4 (flash/update).
    9. You then have several options including CF and SD
    10. Choose either CF or SD, depending on which media you put the files on.
    11. Select "3 NAND Flash Utils"
    12. Select "1 Resize root partition"
    13. Enter 19 when prompted for root partition size.
    12. Flash will be repartioned and Zaurus will reboot.
    13. Repeat steps 2-10 again and wait for the menu start menu.
    14. Now select "1 Install new ROM" and wait. Reboot your Zaurus when ROM installaiton is complete.

Release Notes:

This is the "Lite" version of Cacko ROM 1.23. The only difference from the regular version
is that a lot of applications and kernel modules were removed from the ROM and added to Cacko feed as packages.
This ROM uses less space in of root partition and gives you and great flexibility - install only applications you want.
You'll have about 39Mb (100Mb for C760/C860) of internal flash free.
Note: Upon first Qtopia boot you will recieve empty screen instead of Owner Information dialog.
This is because Sharp addressbook application was removed from the ROM.
Just click Finish to skip this screen and add owner info later when you install PIM applications of your choice.

Just a reminder to the Lite version users - make sure to install proper kernel modules form Cacko feed (use the mirror for the time being) to support USB networking, storage and serial devices!

I am so happy with this and well worth the wait. Having tried both flavours I opted for the Lite.

Just one problem which affects OpieReader, FBReader and BDicty, when tapping on the icon the screen goes black  for a few seconds and then creeps slowly back to life.

Except for BDicty which trips the reboot Welcome screen, the system hangs and requires a hard reset. Although the apps ran initially – albeit with crude exaggerated dispay – now they don’t.

I have reflashed the rom but the behaviour persists.

ZBedic is ok though the View settings seem to be a bit flaky.

I have opened all of my other apps, tkc, Portabase, StageOne, etc.  and they run fine.

Clear "Display with magnified screen" check box in application properties.

old thread, but does anyone have problems with HTML hyperlinks in FBReader?

Some links appear right but others do not. *strange* ... ideas?

Edit: I created 2 simple html files
Code: [Select]

testing links

page 1

goto page2

testing links

page 2

goto page1

It shows the page without the links ... what's wrong? Ideas? Thanks!

EDIT: The two html files test out ok on web browers, JustReader and OpieReader on my C1000 running Cacko 1.23.

The Japanese kernel doesn't seem to be working for the 3200.

I checked in the tools.tar file and the kernel for the 3200 subfolder is empty.

Is this a mistake, or my oversight somewhere?

Anyhow I flashed this Japanese kernel and the Japanese keys are remapped to Ctrl and Alt and system config is set to English, so it doesn't seem to work on a 3200.
