- I'm not of the opinion that you can restore a Sharp backup to Cacko. I don't use tkc anything, so can't speak for that. Given their 'ware it's probaby just a front-end to tar. (smirk)
- You could test a tarball ... if I recall Sharp puts everything in the dtm directory, maybe under /home/QtPalmtop, but I'm not precisely sure. Look for it and you'll find it, or search the Forum ... I'm sure the location is available somewhere.
- Anyways, use your normal backup to save where you are. Remove fastload from any PIM apps, like address and whatnot. Go to root in a command window and tar up the dtm directory. Delete the contents of the dtm directory. Untar the files back. See if the apps can read them. If it fails, restore your backup and all should be back to normal. If it works, you can save your tarball on an SD or some such whilst you reflash, then lay down the contents into Cacko's dtm directory.
- This is just an idea. I've never done this, so I don't know if it will work. I personaly prefer the KO/A-PI suite, and that's simple to back up. Just copy /home/zaurus/kdepim to SD ... flash ... install KO/A-PI, copy kdepim back to /home/zaurus. Done. Just like Linux should be, it is.
- If you decide to give KO/A-PI a spin, it's able to "sync" with the Sharp data store. You can install it, then "sync" it to Sharp, and all of your data will be in both places. If you have a process that depends on the Sharp data store, just set up a routine "sync". If, like me, you don't care about Sharp's data store once you're in KO/A-PI, just delete the dtm directory. It's wasting space if you're not syncing to it.
- Hope this helps...
