1. How to I clear up the internal storage (/dev/root). I'm a unix SA and I poked around and for the life of me I couldn't figure out anything that stuck out to delete. Idid notice a a huge file /proc/kcore, but I shouldn't mess with /proc...but why is kcore so big?
With OZ there is little free space left on the internal flash. Buy an SD card, format it as ext2, and install stuff to that using '-d sd' with ipkg, then link the files using 'ipkg-link'.
/proc/kcore is the entire memory, or perhaps just the kernel memory (something like that), it's not a real file of course as it's in /proc so it doesn't take up any space (well a little bit for the node I suppose, but nothing really).
opie mediaplayer2 ( it took forever to find it )
You can install stuff straight from the feed, then there;s no need to look for things, just update the feed and ask it to install.
i Hope a video player (any recommended apps)
mplayer? I think opie-mediaplayer2 has recently had some patches to allow it to play videos too.
So far when i've tried loading things to an SD card or CF card I get lots of link errors. IS this because I need sudo loaded?
Probably because the cards are formatted as (v)fat, make them ext2 which supports symlinks.
3. How do a sync this thing? I don't have the orginal CD and my computer doesn't recognize the SL-5500. Do I just load the software that came with it, I assume I can dowload it from myzaurus.com? ...OR...is there special software for syning with OZ/opie. What software can i use on my PC so sync?
You need the older usb drivers and sync software which came with the 2.xx 'ROMs' - can someone give an URL - I expect they are in the oesf downloads page. There is also software to sync with Linux - look at the pinned thread in Oz/Common for other syncing info.
