3.5.4 And System Services
« on: November 14, 2005, 09:28:29 am »
I've installed the 3.5.4-RC on my SL-C3100 with followinh the below rules:

- gpe-image-borzoi-20051022114722.rootfs.img -> initrd.bin
- zImage-borzoi-20051022114722.bin -> zImage.bin
- I skipped the HDIMAGE1.TGZ (is it the file bootstrap-image-borzoi-20051022114722.rootfs.img?)

On the file system I cannot find any of the files inetd, smbd and so on, so I cannot establish a connection with my laptop.

Did I miss something?

You can install them if you want them. OpenZaurus images does not contain samba or other services which are not needed to get system working (or are usefull only for some people).

Samba won't be installed, though there should be a running ssh server to which you can ssh and scp (the server is dropbear).

Other two questions:

 - Where I can find a right installable IPK for Samba and INetD?
 - Is it correct the installation procedure I followed?

Thank you very much!

You can find the samba_3.0.10-r0_arm.ipk in the OZ 3.5.3 /feed/console

and the inetd in the inetutils_1.4.2-r0_arn.ipk in the OZ 3.5.3 /feed/libs

I found the INETD server into the NETKIT-BASE ipk file, and installed this the above you mentioned, but I cannot find the file IN.TELNETD.

Where is it?

Thanks a lot!
