I tried installing the " gnurobbo_l_0.57.03_landscape_arm.ipk " on my sl5500 (tKc ROM) and the installer gave me a message that the package was named improperly (forgot the exact wording) then, "do you want to ignore this error." I chose yes to ignore it as the alternative it offered looked like it would just overwrite the existing package. It installed and the icon is there, but it will not start from the icon or the command line. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong???

I 'guess' the tkc rom package manager did overwrite the existing package if it won't start from the command line? Open your package manager and see if you have both packages installed. If not, I'm sorry to tell you that you will have to reinstall gnurobbo.

I didn't think this would happen, but I guess I'll have to change more then one letter in the package name for some roms with older package managers? Sorry about that.

If your wife was on a level that she can't (but would like to) get back let me know and I think we can fix that for her.

after robo is install, hold icon down and disable magnify.
I believe this was the main problem on the Cxxx models, because I can find no difference in the two ipks. TheGreenKnight should include instructions on his site for this to prevent further confusion.

Thanks again,

@GadgetGuy

Would you please try the original ipk you were using… and hold down on the icon and disable magnify? Please let us know if that works?

I have tested this on the 5xxx models with the latest 'Sharp' ROMs and have found no problems.

Thanks Meanie

I have also made a new ipk with this feature added for use with 5xxx and Cxxx 'or' Cxxxx models. I have tested it on the 5xxx, so would someone be so kind as to test it on a Cxxxx and let post here if it works or not?

I have repaired the landscape option ipk for use 'with' the gnurobbo ipk on the 5xxx models only. It installs properly with the latest 'Sharp' ROM package managers. I can't be sure it works with the older 'Sharp based roms' package managers, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

You must first install the gnurobbo ipk and then install the landscape option for it to work properly. This ipk only adds the option to use both portrait and landscape for the 5xxx by selecting one of two icons to start the game. You can not switch between the two on the same level of play while playing.

Greg

Here are the ipks:

Yes. This works. The program is launched now from Qtopia.

By the way, in both cases ( whether launched from console or Qtopia), initially nothing happens - I have to press enter for the game to start.

When started in console, after entering Gnurobbo I see only
Code: [Select]
480x640 in the console window. After pressing Enter the game starts.

Same thing in Qtopia: launching the game with the icon results in nothing. If I press immediately enter after launching it, it works and I see the start screen...

Either way: it works now, and I will try not to forget the Enter key.

Thank you all with the various comments / help!

I think I may have been less than clear in explaining. I chose NOT to use the suggested name the package manger gave, because it would have overwritten it (I think). So, everything is still the same as it was, levels and all. I got no further messages and it said it installed. It's just that the lanscape icon doesn't launch anything and the lanscape command someone posted earlier, ' gnurobbo - 320x240, or gnurobbo-320x240 (tried both) doesn't either. The default view still launches from both the icon and the command line. It's not a big thing, but was just trying to see if I could get the landsacape going (just to see if it would be better) and also thought you would like the feedback. Thanks again for a great game.

If you have the time would you please try the new ipk (0.57.03-rc1) that I finally managed to attach to my previous post and let us know if this fixes that?

Thanks

It sounds like you don’t have version .03 or .03-rc1? They should ‘both’ work with the new landscape option ipk.

@chal

I see the problem… TheGreenKnight has 3 different ipks in this thread with the same name and version number. Please use the last ipk listed. I will ask him to remove the others.

You can make a copy of your /home/zaurus/.gnurobborc to save your level of play.

Thanks

Greg

The first one I tried was ' gnurobbo_l_0.57.03_landscape_arm.ipk ', but now I just tried
' gnurobbo_landscape_option_0.57.03_rc1_arm.ipk ' on my Z, which only had the original game so far, rather than my wife's so I wouldn't loose her levels. Same message, but even when I try to rename it to what it suggests, the package manager still recognizes it as if it was unchanged. My file manager sees it with the new name.

On second look at my wife's Z, it (gnurobbo_l_0.57.03_landscape_arm.ipk ) must have overwritten something (not sure what that something is, because as I stated earlier, everything still works, except I now have a dead icon). The landscape package doesn't show up in the uninstaller, but on mine with ' gnurobbo_landscape_option_0.57.03_rc1_arm.ipk ', it did, so I uninstalled it and everything works as before, but still no landscape. BTW, these are both the same ROM (tKc 1.0, with Maslovsky's kernal update).

Now I think I may have been less than clear in explaining… I’m referring to the gnurobbo_0.57.03-rc1_arm.ipk. You have to have that version to work with the landscape option with or without the icon.

If you can’t rotate the game from the command line you don’t have the new version of the ipk.
