Move From Palm To Ko/pi?
« on: November 29, 2005, 09:35:57 am »
I am considering to move my PIM data (adresses, agenda, memos, to do's) from my Palm to my C3100.

What is the easiest way to do this, considering, that
- I do not sync my Palm with Outlook ( I use the Palm desktop)
- I have only Windows PC's easily accessible.

Thank you for any advice...

The Zaurus 5500 and 6000 both came with a version of Intellisync that synced with Palm Desktop version 4. Does the 3100 come with Intellisync?

I am not sure, I will have to look. That could work, if I have this app on the CD ( never really looked at whats on the CD...)

Does Intellisync sync with Ko/pi? ( I do not want to use the default Z PIM applications....)

Hi there. What I did to transfer my data was install Intellisync and the correct version of Palm Desktop. (I have a copy of the old version of Palm Desktop at home that worked for me.) I synced with the Zaurus. I then used KO/PI's capabilities to sync with the Z's built-in PIM. I saved the Z's file as a backup, transferred that file to the desktop and imported it to my desktop computer.

Clear as mud, right?

ouch, what os are you using, I currently use linux and have korganizer just sync with a ics file on my sd card every 15 minutes or so, then inser card copy the ics file to the default location of my kopi ics file and im done synced, now I have to write a script to check for the file every so often and if it exists and the date is newer then copy it.

If you can use intelisync to sycn with your palm, then KO/pi and KA/pi will sync with the default pims if you install the DMT ipk that comes in the zip file of the software for the sharp rom. I have used it many times and works great. I have just beamed my moms stuff from her palm into the default pim apps on my Z then imported them using the DTM sync in KO or KA. It works very nicely. The only problem is sometimes you have to check that everything beamed over correctly.

If you use windows and are using the Palm desktop you can look under your local settings folder under Documents and Settings in the .palm directory. make shure you have enabled the show hidden folders and files. In there should be an .xml file with all of you data backed up from your palm. You can copy that over to your Z and replace the default addressbook.xml file or organizer file. Dont remember what that is called. I have done this on mine as well and it has worked. I am not completly sure why it does b/c i thought that the pims used the DTM format but somehow they will still read the .xml file. I dont know if that made much sense. But give those couple ways a try.

Hope that helps

Try just beaming everything from the palm to your zaurus.
From there you can just import the received files into pimpi.

When syncing between multiple (old) packages, there's a decent chance your data is going to get mangled somewhere.
