Another Calendar/Todo Combined App
« on: February 11, 2004, 04:34:34 am »
There seems to be a load of free open-source calendars popping up at the moment (which is Very Good).

Here\'s another one and it looks *very* promising: http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1694

I haven\'t tried it just yet, but it seems to have several nice features/settings looking at the home page:

- Combined Calendar/Todo view
- Repeating event exceptions (Yay!)
- Link events/todo to any file with an associated app
- Keyboard shortcuts for various actions
- Templates

Just tried it on my 5600 and it works quite well and uses the DTM database format. Haven\'t tried alarms yet. Calendar times were an hour off on and it could do with some tweaks to the layouts and there\'s a few things still in Japanese, but still it is impressive, especially considering it is based on datebook from Qtopia Free v1.5.0.

If it uses the DTM format, does it mean that it is compatible with the Sharp Calendard and can be sync\'d with Outlook
(more or less like datebk is compatible with the standard Palm calender)?

It opened all my existing Calendar and Todo items from the default Sharp DTM based apps. I assume it edits them in the same way, so syncing should work as normal (Windows only still of course).

What is very nice is that application uses DTM database and contains a set of very handy classes for dealing with that format built into a library. This means they are very reusable!
I realy hope the guy will eventualy complete that library to handle addressbook TDM data as well.
