Fuse For Cacko
« on: December 06, 2005, 05:21:40 pm »
It might be interesting to see FUSE (http://fuse.sourceforge.net/) in the next version of Cacko.

This would make possible to setup an encrypted files system (http://pobox.com/~vgough/encfs.html), ssh file system (http://fuse.sourceforge.net/sshfs.html), or even gphotofs (http://www.hep.phy.cam.ac.uk/~lester/gphoto2-fuse-fs/)  without a need for any additional kernel modules.

What do you think?

"- Updated FUSE to version 1.4 (latest verison available for 2.4.x kernels)"

IIRC you need a kernel >= 2.4.22 for the latest FUSE

Yes, FUSE has been in Cacko for ages. 1.4 is the latest version, which compiles under 2.4 kernel. More recent FUSE versions don't even compile on 2.4, only under 2.6.x

That's good news and I should have checked the release notes first.

Has anyone compiled sshfs of encfs for Cacko? Perhaps there are some IPKs?
