Sorry all, I'm sure this is a question covered ad infinitum, but I've got to ask...

I've been playing with my zaurus sl-5500 now for about a month and Ive upgraded to the Sharp 3.10 Rom (upgrading 3.13 today actually) and I'm pondering upgrading to OpenZaurus, but I'm not sure... Is there a general consensus? Can someone give me pros and cons of each? If I flash to OpenZaurus and decide to roll back to the Sharp Rom, that shouldn't be a problem since I can flash from a CF card, right?

I also will need good java support and the ability to develop for it, since I plan on using my Zaurus at work for helping debug some embedded applications. I have added a Socket CF LPE 10/100 card to my zaurus and a 1 gig SD card, so I'm not TOO concerned about storage or connectivity.

Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

Thanks, and sorry again for beating that dead horse.

Marc

As long as your backups are good, I see no problem going to OZ to check it out.  Is there data on the sharp rom you need to access when you're on OZ?  It sounds like you have the sharp rom somewhere and a backup should be all that you need.
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

I think there's jamvm or sablevm on OZ/GPE (so I've been told) and I think Jeode extracted from the Sharp 'ROM' works on OZ/Opie (it used to but I've not used it with the latest version of OZ/Opie).

Iv user OZ and Sharp 3 roms on my 5500.  The only reason I now use TkC on it is for Chinese language support otherwise Id use OZ.  It is more flexable than the Sharp ROM and although some (and it is just some) apps arnt as polished they tend to do what they say on the tin.

Only other hitch might be the Hancom office apps but then again its not an app I use to any great extent.
