tat2sailor- Thanks for the reply but I dont think you get what im looking for
Archos says they base there claim of 130hr of video on there 30GB on 500 kbits/s MPEG-4 audio/video encoding & 1h30/movie (for near-DVD quality encoding at 1500 kbits/s or more recommended)
Are you saying the average dvd movie is encoded at 2500kb/s? If so that would me I would fit no where near 130hr of dvd video on it.
All Im trying to figure out is about how may dvd movies I could fit onto a 30BG to see if I think its enough for me so I dont have to push my budget to get the 100GB
You have an av500 what are you stats? How much vids pics songs have you fit onto yours and at what quality and how much space did it all take up?

I have an AV500, 30GB. I dumped about 100 songs, a dozen tv shows without commercials, and about 50 pictures, and used about 5GB so far.
I save my movies as 320x240 or close, as larger would not benefit me unless I output back to the TV. Here is a sample of my results
ie. 2 hour movie, 320x208, 791KB/s, audio MP3 127KB/s 44Khz = 802MB
