Troubles With C1000
« on: January 07, 2006, 03:59:20 pm »
 Hi there,

just got an sl-c1000 from a friend who didn't use it anymore. lucky me I guess.
However he had some software troubles. So after a search on the internet I got to a site WWW.TRISOFT.DE. This site has images u can use to downmload. When i downloaded the images (no problem there) but a simple restore of the backup didn't work. So as last hop I tried a NAND-backup. I did everything acording to the description but the only message I get is 'Nand restore from SD - file:SYSTC100.DBK - (in red) not excist file'
Oke, if that doesn't work, u need to leave the service menu by makng a hard reset, and ther began the trouble I can't leve the service-menu.
I am not a very skilled LINUX-guy so if anyone could help me, PLEASE

It doesn't matter that the service menu is still up, do this:

To do a "hard reset", close your clamshell device (doesn't matter that the service menu is still on), you remove the battery cover and press a little recessed button with your stylus (I think there's a picture of it in the Trisoft pdf manual),  then close the battery cover, slip the battery switch over to close and hold the battery in.  Then you open the clamshell, press the power button on the front left and the device should proceed to boot up.

Those are the last steps after you do the restore...you do a hard reset and turn the power button.

Let us know if this works for you.

IIRC the card must be in FAT format, not FAT32. A hard reset as described before should take you out of the service menu.

Oke,

If have done a restore, but I can't do a hard reset. The service menu is keep getting up.
According to the TRIsoft manuel u can also do a 'boot to command-line'
This is working.

the following things appear on my screen:
INIT: version 2.78 booting
sl_time nand_read_time
touch: /home/sharp/etc/rtc_reset: No such file or directory
INIT: Enetering runlevel 4

INIT: sending processes the TERM signal

Lineo uLinux
Kernel 2.4.20 on armv5tel

Zaurus login:

Then the manual tells me to login as 'zaurus' or 'root'

When I type 'root' I get
login[175]: root login on 'ttul1'
Where to go from here........

When I type 'zaurus' I get
password: what do i fill in because the old password doesn't work?

I'm new to the Zaurus and totally unknown with Linux so the only thing I want to do is finish the restore which doesn't want to finish (I think) because I'm getting the message:
touch: /home/sharp/etc/rtc_rest: No such file or directory

How can I fix the problem with the missing directory and sub-directies
A step by step, the dummy way, would be very helpful because, as I already told you, I new to Linux land and unable to fix it myself.

Thanks already very much for trying to get my Zaurus working

PS
The hard reset doesn't work
Is that because the Zaurus misses a file or a directory with this file or . . . . .
