Method To Purchase Zaurus Sl-c3100
« on: January 07, 2006, 06:38:32 pm »
I've been reading these forums for about 2 weeks now. I've decided that I am going to purchase a C3100 Zaurus clamshell. I have a Palm Zire 72s.
I figured there are, (maybe), 2 methods for me to purchase a Zaurus.
1. If I can find a local computer shop that will "order" one for me. (Extra cost)
2. Buy online. (This method presents a problem for me, see below)
I don't have any credit cards, and I don't have a checking account.
I do have a savings account though.
Will one of the online merchants accept savings account info?
Are there any online merchants that will accept a "United States Postal Money Order"?
I don't want to open a checking account just to make one purchase, neither do I want to "sign up" for a credit card for one purchase.

Thank you for any tips.
This is my first post, and I've already downloaded Cacko and pdaXrom with my dialup.

Savings accounts aren't useful for purchases.  Banks won't allow 3rd parties to withdraw money.

But, just about everyone accepts a money order.

Another option is to buy a "cashier's check" from your bank.  You don't need a checking account for that.

Thank you for your replies.
So far I've found 3 prices for the C3100
I'll try to see if "Conics" will accept a cashier's check or bank draft.
Conics ----- $598.78
Pricejapan - $598.00
Streamline - $675.00
All in US dollars. Streamline seems a bit expensive from those above quotes.

Thank you DaemonsGR,
I don't know how to transfer money that way.
I contacted Conics and hoping I hear from them by Monday. It's Saturday night now, and I'll have to wait until Monday to use my bank anyway.

I went with StreamlineCPU's, if you have a problem with your Z they will assist in sending it back for repair, and they have great customer service.

I sent out for my New SL C3100 today. Hoping it's here by Friday.
I decided to purchase from StreamlineCPU's
I'm getting a black Piel Frama case and 2 CF cards
I've never seen a CF card except online. I've got 2 SD and 1 MMC card which I have been using in my Palm Zire 72

Anxiously awaiting,
Jon

I went with StreamlineCPUs as well for my SL-C3100.  After some thought, I decided that the warranty and services they offer are worth the extra price, and I'm glad I did.  There was a bit of an error with billing, which Lori took care of very quickly.  Within minutes of submitting my contact form, she was on the phone and we got everyting straightened out.

Can't wait to get it
