how can i restore the default partition to install a the cacko??

Itry in the installer menu "restore default factory partition" but when it boot for the first time the cacko, it said me that it can mount hdd3
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=113431\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

ok resolved (thx THC  )

use the hd utils in the flash menu and use restore defaults partition factory

next open the console and type

#mke2fs /dev/hda2
#mkfs.vfat /dev/hda3

and after that when you install cacko, all will be good
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=113634\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I was trying this very thing with a compact flash card, and noticed that the commands should be

#mke2fs -j /dev/hdc2        <- Note the '-j' option
#mkfs.vfat /dev/hdc3

As the compact flash is mounted as /dev/hda and the microdrive is /dev/hdc

I guess this might be different if you use SD?

P.S. Thanks for posting this trick, it was (almost ) exactly what I was looking for

I wasnt sure if I should add a new thread about this or put it here, I put it here, hope it will be ok...

I decided to try pdaxrom on my c3000 and intalled the beta2 from this thread, I did the cardctl fix that meanie posted since i was not sure if that was in the beta2 or not.

My problem is my wifi doesnt work, I have the Asus spacelink WL-110 card, this card worked with sharp rom and with debian.

I try to use the Network setup program to set it up, first time it came up, I entered the details but it just hanged. and now it will not even start...

Hi all.

I am a proud owner of a sl-c3000 and I'm looking for the best rom for my needs... (keep in mind I'm not a linux guru....)

basically I need a good PIM with an easy GUI, the possibility to sync appointment with my PC and to share files, and a text editor (word-compliant whould be better).
(secondary needs are a media player, a spreadsheet, some playable games, and an usable pdf reader)

I first tryed OZ... I like its pim and it easily sync on my PC, but it lacks other apps I'd like to use on a pda...

SO decided to migrate to pdax.. (tx to Thc!)

it's good too and I was able to configure my wifi card without problems...

But here come questions....
- wich feed sould I use (or feeds)
- is there a good PIM (heard once of a graphical pim with a visualization like a tree but I can't remember WHERE in the forum)
- and a working browser (tryed firefox but it doesn't work)
- some games (anyone complied a MAME port ?  )
- how can I sync (PIM and share files) to my PC....

I thank you in advance...
bye
alessandro (IT)

Hi,

You'll need to use pdaXrom's 1.1beta1 feeds (general and c1000-3100 specifics) ... that's probably why firefox doesn't work for you  You should find whatever you need there (else it's probably in the forums... )

SL-C3000 - pdaXrom 1.1.0Beta1
SL-C860 - pdaXrom 1.1.0 RC8 (charging circuitry dead :( )
CF RamStar 512 Mb / Hitachi 4Gb microdrive (thanks to creative's muvo² :p)
SD Sandisk 1Gb / Viking 256 Mb
Linksys WCF13 CF wifi card

Anyone willing to donate for my work, please consider donate to pdaXrom and/or OE/OZ projects instead, I wouldn't have been able to do anything without them ...

What do I do:
- Install pdaxrom for c3000beta2, apply patches from Meanie
- startx, going to System tools -> PPP Modem
- create bluetooth connection, phone's MAC is found automatically
- After I press "apply", it hangs exactly as if cardctl eject was issued - HDD led is on and I still can move mouse, but nothing more..

Yep, that would be really great. However, I really would like the option that was discussed before to allow manual partitioning of the microdrive before installation. I really like to have 3 partitions, one for pdaXrom root and user partition, one for swap and one for usbstorage, ie a fat partition.

I second that! I really want pdaxrom but its essential for me to have a fat/ usb partition. I tried the C3000 beta1 and it didn't have an option under the PC link tool to mount a FAT microdrive partition as the USB disk, it was only CF or SD. I hope this will be fixed too.
