Sdio On C860 Update?

The reason why I'm creating this thread seperately from the pinned topic about C860 SDIO as this is more of a personal problem.

A couple of months ago I tried an old CF WiFi card in my C860 that for some reason permanently damaged the CF slot. I was gutted at this and as such started to use my Z less and less.

It's only when I've moved home and unpacked all my gear I've thought "I need to use my Z more.."

Recently, with newer model Z's coming out the talks on whether the C860 is SDIO-compatible has become stale. SDIO is now my only way to get any form of "comfortable" Internet access on my Z.

I was taking a look at this eBay Auction and wondered would this or any other SDIO WiFi card work with the C860? I'm not bothered which ROM, although naturally I'd prefer it to run under pdaXrom.

Anyone able to help? Although I'm not rich, I'm willing to donate what little I can afford to help "promote" more SDIO development for the Cxx0's.

Is your CF slot physically damaged or simply returning read errors? If not phycially damaged, you might want to check out my recent post
describing how I eventually managed to cure CF read errors on my C860 resulting from a scrambled flash by erasing and reflashing.

The question of whether the hardware can do SDIO is officially put to rest.  It can, and the C-Guys have released closed-source binary Zaurus drivers for their Wi-Fi card.

AFAIK, no other SDIO cards can be used at this time.  So if you're considering using the SD slot for wireless, the C-Guys card is the only option.

The binary driver is designed for the Sharp ROM/Kernel.  It may or may not work with other ROMs depending on how much they've changed things.  I personally am using the C-Guys SDIO stack on Cacko to mount 2GB cards, which the normal Sharp driver chokes on.  But, I don't have the WiFi card so I can't comment there.
