Well, wasn't there a thread recently which mentioned that Tomtom Go runs on Linux?

Drop the idea of TOMTOM on Zaurus, it will bring absolutely no good.
All my reports and testing were made (if no other mention given) on SL-C1000

TomTom licensing explicitely forbids the use of their proprietary software on devices that it isn't intended for.

Check out TomTom Go license, also the PocketPC/Palm software makes similar references but limits it to supported devices. There is also a clause about not transferring the data files to other devices (excluding backup).

I can't be bothered digging out the box for my TomTom Go and finding the clause but I can assure you that it is there.

I guess it will be useless for what you're trying to do ... it was running over a x86 emulator (bochs) and was too slow to be really useable (imagine running w98 on a old 386  .. beside I don't know if it would be able to handle any device connected to the zaurus such as a gps receiver)
SL-C3000 - pdaXrom 1.1.0Beta1
SL-C860 - pdaXrom 1.1.0 RC8 (charging circuitry dead :( )
CF RamStar 512 Mb / Hitachi 4Gb microdrive (thanks to creative's muvo² :p)
SD Sandisk 1Gb / Viking 256 Mb
Linksys WCF13 CF wifi card

Anyone willing to donate for my work, please consider donate to pdaXrom and/or OE/OZ projects instead, I wouldn't have been able to do anything without them ...

Two comments:

1) Did you agree to those clauses when you bought the device? I find it hard to believe that any company can put restrictions on you _after_ you purchase since the deal is done _at_ purchase.

2) What if Kellogs decide to put a clause on the inside of their "Special K" packets saying "This food stuff may not be stored in a different container, or consumed by someone not related to the purchaser, or by anybody on a Tuesday." You really gonna obey that?

These companies are really taking the piss - and we're generally suckers for it.

NB: I do _not_ condone illegal copying of software - but trying to declare that you cannot _move_ a piece of software to a different device is dishonest.
