Opie With Preloaded Apps
« on: January 26, 2006, 03:56:52 pm »
Hi,

I am currently running OZ 3.5.3 with Opie 1.2

I've had endless problems installing several different applications and was wondering if there are any vrsions of OPIE that come preloaded with common applications that are ready to use such as a pdf viewer, web browser, or tools such as kismit and wellenreiter etc...

If so, what are they are where could I get more information on them?

I do realise that it is best to practice installing apps and getting familiar with the command line install option, and I am doing this - but it would be nice to be able to use some of these basic applications in the meantime!

Thanks in advance,

Z

I must admit that I am very tempted by this Rom, but I can't tell from the screenshots what PIM apps are being used - I am using an SL-5500, and currently using the TKC rom version 1.something (it has been so long that I can't remember) but this uses the "new" dbm format for storing the data.  I would like to be able to go back to using opie-today etc if possible...

Is there a list of all the apps that the Hentges ROM uses, so I can build the courage to change...

Also, is the change from Sharp (TKC) to Hentges as simple as downloading initrd.bin and CardFS onto my flash, and following the usual boot holding 'C' & 'D'?

Thanks for your time,

Tarquin
