Upgrading C1000 To C3000
« on: January 26, 2006, 07:30:06 pm »
Hi everyone!

I'm want to make up my mind between a C1000 or C3000, both model is almost identical in specs with the exception of a microdrive.

Would it be possible to mount a microdrive into C1000 internally without using up the CF slot? I've seen a disassembly of the C3000 @ http://www.ayati.com/kobako/c3bara.htm

Does C1000 have the exact internal structure as C3000?

No, search around, earlier disassembly pictures show the lack of CF slot and supporting chipset on the SL-C1000.

Looking at the far left of the bottom picture is the block of 9 copper pads arranged in a square for a bluetooth antenna?

If it is are there any guesses what the rest of the chips may be.

What is the chip that is on the 1000 but not on the 3000 (down and right from the copper pads on the bottom picture)?

OK, just checked through the forum and it is for a BLuetooth antenna and the chip is the same as the 6000.

the c1000 is a c3100 without the chip.

the c3000 is  a older model and is way different than the c3100 or the c1000.  I would go for the c3100.  Unless you want to buy my c1000 for 325 and ill upgrade my c1000 to c3100

Is it really possible that the 3000 or 3100 has bluetooth?  What would be the point?  They could have advertized that and sold it for even more.

Wrong chip. I'm talking about the one that is on the 1000 but not the 3000, I can't quite make the numbers out, looks like T8502 which is a dual PCM codec (for VOIP?) but I'm not sure. If it is then one has to wonder why the 1000 has it but the 3000 doesn't.

What is way different between 1000 and 3000, it looks like the same motherboard to me?

Bluetooth sounds intresting but will it block the microdrive slot?

the WML bluetooth modules are *wafer* thin, so provided there was about 1.5mm gap between PCB and CF card, you could squeeze in the bluetooth module - but you'd probably have to locate the antenna elsewhere.

but given you only need ?5 wires to the module, flying leads would be sufficient!

Has anyone actually tried this?  It sounds like a fabulously effective way to brick your Z.

dirk did wire in a cml module into a 6000L successfully to make a 6000W, but had to add other bits for its power supply demands.

I tried to fit a module which turned out to be the wrong one and abandoned it, but broke my 6000 during reassembly.

So, I am probably going to wait, when I get a 1000 or 3x00, for someone else to report 100% success before I try it!
