Affix Bluetooth Applet
« on: February 17, 2006, 07:45:05 am »
I installed the Affix Bluetooth libraries etc in anticipation of getting my Socket BT CF card in the post.

One thing that irks me is the microscopic size of the Bluetooth applet icon. Is there any way to enlarge this? I tried replacing the actual PNG files, but as you can see on this screenshot, there seem to be artificial constraints on the icon placement and size. The icon doesn't adhere to the dimensions of the PNG itself but is cropped to fit some arbitrary box.

I'm using blueapplet_2.0.1.0-2 from http://affix.sourceforge.net/feeds/unstable/ on the Sharp ROM 1.12 for the 6000 and I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

look in your pics directory, and second where did you get those fonts, any chance at packing those up for me and emailing them..?

The pics directory was the first place I went. Like I said, I tried replacing the PNG files, because I thought it'd be a simple matter of taking a, say, 12x12 image and dropping in a 24x24 image. But it only resulted in the cut-off image you see in the applet menu. There's some kind of constraint -- in the applet library file, maybe? -- that only allows a certain area to be displayed, cropping off anything that falls outside.

As for the font, it's the Calibri you've linked to on your blog (since removed at Microsoft's request). I wouldn't recommend installing it, because it destroys the symlinks to the default Helvetica and it causes irrecoverable GUI freezes on NeoCal and Help Browser. I think it looks wonderful, and I rarely use NeoCal (now uninstalled) or Help Browser -- but still, it sacrifices functionality for aesthetics.
