Hi, Cwaig.  It was me, although I know of at least one other additional interested party.  I have a Targus IR Universal.  Your driver works great.  Easy to load; easy to use.  I was wondering how to program the keys.  For instance, the \"Fn\" key on the Targus seems to only be capable of tabbing between application tabs in Qt.  And the setup region of the driver has different \"control\" keys than what are on the keyboard.  Also, I don\'t really know how to specify some of the key functions I want (like the File menu or Edit menu options).

Are there any instructions anywhere for setting up the keyboard map?

Thanks.

Kindof on this topic, I sent you regular e-mail about a Dvorak keyboard map.
I think I saw somewhere discussion about loading keymaps from files rather than having them built in. That would be neat.  That is how I got zkb to do a form of Dvorak for me.

I altered the built in Targus map in your source, but could not compile it because I only have compiling on-board, no cross compiling environment (PowerPC with less than 100 Meg free).  It seems that interface design is not quite doable on the Zaurus and so the ui files cannot be translated to C++ on the Zaurus. Thus I fail when I try to run your build script.

One person had apparently succeeded in implimenting PocketTop Dvorak for your driver, but I cannot reach him or his web site.

From what I can follow in the code with my limmited knowledge, and from the posts as you were developing it, this is quite a nice accomplishment that has made many people happy.

While we are on the subject of keyboards...  I sent a mesage to the FAQ about the virtual keyboard (the on-screen keyboard), but never received an answer, so I\'ll try here:

Although there is a key markled \"Ctrl\", I can\'t seem to get it to send any control characters.

The FAQ has a lot of stuff on the slide-out keyboard, but does not cover this.

Thanks!

Ctrl works fine for me in Open Zaurus 3.3.5 and the shell that came with it. I tap on the Ctrl key and it sticks, then the next key I tap is sent as a control key.

Panyo,

Thanks.  I use a 5600 with the original ROM (Sharp ROM 1.32).  In the terminal application (shell), using the virtual keyboard -- the ctrl key sticks, but then sends a regular character.  Can anyone confirm this?

Buy me a Belkin Keyboard

In reality, what you\'d need to do is work out the coding for keyboard, add it to IRK and recompile.

Kinda off topic, but
I would love to see the collection of keyboards that Cwaig seems to be building up.  Bye the way, I love the brain avatar.  Pinky and the Brain have the honored place of standing on my monitor at work (with a stuffed pig in between them...I work at a PD).

Is this easily done?  Do you have a link to a howto?

Thanks

Anyone know what the number code to use for the menu key is? I\'ve got a pocketop working nice with my 5600, except the menu key doesn\'t work, and I can\'t figure out what to change the cmd value to in the irk comman setup
