Firefox Install On 3.5.4 Oz/gpe (thunderbird Too)
« on: March 22, 2006, 10:57:25 am »
Hi,

I'm attempting to install Firefox (firefox_1.0.6-r0) from the feed.

Typing the following:

     ipkg update
ipkg install firefox -d sd      <-- i want to install to SD card

Installation appears to proceed normally (firefox downloads from the feed), then I get the following error:

ERROR: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for firefox:
                      gconf-osso (>= 2.6.4.3.1osso13) osso-gnome-vfs2 (>= 2.8.4.4-1) osso-gnome-vfs2
     (>=2.8.4.4-1) gconf-osso (>= 2.6.4.3.1osso13)

Any tips on how to make this work?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Randall

Thanks for the quick response. Looks like Thunderbird has the same issue, missing the same dependencies.

Best Regards,
Randall.

ummm...not to take this thread way off topic, but does that mean you can sync thunderbird w/ a desktop thunderbird?Like run a script to update everytime you plug in the Z?

SL-5500(immotus) OpenZaurus 3.5.4/GPE, OpenZaurus 3.5.4/Opie(loopmount)

Provided that Thunderbird is running on the Zaurus, then I imagine that would be possible. The mail data file structures would be the same.

well, how do you do it? Do you just download a copy of your e-mail? Care to explain what you use thunderbird for on your Z? I'm assuming e-mail, since that's it's main function...

I'm using Thunderbird on the Z under pdaXrom. It's my secondary means of checking'and reading emai, when I don't feel like hauling around a laptop. I've configured it to leave messages on the server, so that when I am using Thunderbird on my main system (my laptop), it will re-retrieve the mail, even the messages that I have already read on the Z. I don't sync at all between the two. The Z at most has a day or two of messages.

Hopefully Thunderbird will get fixed for OZ soon!

Cheers,
Randall.

Hi,
I ran:
        ipkg -nodeps install firefox
and is working perfectly. Maybe the fix that we need is only the dependencies.

Regards,

Jose

Hmmm... something strange here : I hit bug [a href=\"http://bugs.treke.net/show_bug.cgi?id=692]http://bugs.treke.net/show_bug.cgi?id=692[/url] when I try "bitbake firefox" in oz354x...

maybe something was not committed, if you manage to generate firefox and not me ?

UPDATE : my fault, it appears I tried and compile firefox with a modified environment (patch correcting compilation problem for minimo : http://bugs.treke.net/show_bug.cgi?id=692 ), which obviously causes a problem only here .

Consider I've said nothing.

Zaurus SL-C1000 - OpenZaurus 3.5.4.1-alpha1 w/ GPE image (some packages "custom made", compiled at home from bitbake+openembedded)

Is it possible to install to SD card yet? My 6000 doesn't have the space to install internally.

Thanks,
Randall

Sorry for the noob question, but is firefox available for 3.5.4.1 Akita?
It's not in the feeds that were setup by default.

3.5.4.1-alpha can use 3.5.4 feed without problems and gpe-image is configured with right feeds to install it.
