Calcurse - http://culot.org/calcurse/index.html
a text-based personal organizer

roadnav - http://roadnav.sourceforge.net/
an in-car navigation system

On first run, it will want to download about 50M of data into ~/.roadnavdata
Downloading maps adds more to that directory
Link it to a device with enough space before you run this.

gmrun - http://www.bazon.net/mishoo/gmrun.epl
a simple run-program window with history and TAB completion

gxmessage - http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~trmusson/programs.html
A GTK2 based xmessage clone

indent - http://www.gnu.org/software/indent/
used to make code easier to read

MPD and friends - homepage
mpc_0.12.0_armv5tel.ipk
mpd_0.12.1_armv5tel.ipk
glurp_0.11.6_armv5tel.ipk

Low-power music playing goodness! This version of MPD just has Tremor (Vorbis) and MAD (mp3) support, so it should run without any extra packages. Allows gapless playback and crossfading on the Zaurus.

You need to edit /etc/mpd.conf before it'll run.

If anybody wants support for more formats (FLAC, AAC, Musepack, and Mod are possible) just send me a message and I'll see about doing an updated version.

MPC is a scriptable, command-line client for MPD. Glurp is a GTK+2 based client, and is very nice to use - however, it constantly polls the daemon for information about the current song, so it takes up a notable number of CPU cycles to have it running. The music will keep playing if you close it, though (one of the main advantages of MPD).

You can also use Glurp/MPC to control MPD on a remote host - it's a simple setting in Glurp, and you just need to set the MPD_HOST variable for MPC.

well, I've been hacking away building pdaXii13 which is the C3000 version of pdaXrom beta3

while doing so, I created a few new useful packages which I am now sharing so other users, mainly C3100/3200/C1000 owners, can use them as well.

accessx contains the tool ax which you can use to configure the AccessX features in the X server if enabled in your .xinitrc

gplflash is an old flash player which I could not find compiled for pdaXrom so I compiled it. It contains a firefox plugin as well.

matchbox_panel_manager allows you to change the order of the applets in the matchbox panel

obconf is a very useful tool to configure openbox which I believe should have been included in pdaXrom by default. I didn't compile it, but included it anyways because it is such a great tool and not easy to find.

reboot will add an icon to the menu similar to the Exit option

rotate replaces the default rotate.sh and x11scr file and does pretty much the same thing, ie rotate the screen, but also rotates running applications as well.

screencap will allow you to easily take a screendump. it uses scrot if installed, otherwise falls back to using xwd. it also plays a sound file and mimics the behaviour of the screencap tool in Sharp ROM.

sdcard contains the updated SL-C3200 SD driver and is only for the new clamshell models using beta3. This package cleanly removes the mmc driver installed by beta3 and replaces it with the sharp module and also replaces associated tools such as sdmgr and mb-applets-cards so you get proper and stable workings SD card.

xdialog just gives you easy dialogs under X. all the other xdialog packages I found crash with gdk font errors so I made this one which works without crashing
SL-C3000 - pdaXii13 build5.4.9 (based on pdaXrom beta3) / SL-C3100 - Sharp ROM 1.02 JP (heavily customised)
Netgear MA701 CF, SanDisk ConnectPlus CF, Socket Bluetooth CF, 4GB Kingston CF,  4GB pqi SD, 4GB ChoiceOnly SD, 2GB SanDisk SD USB Plus, 1GB SanDisk USB Plus, 1GB Transcend SD, 2GB SanDisk MicroSD with SD adaptor, Piel Frama Leather Case, GoldX 5-in-1 USB cable, USB hub, USB mouse, USB keyboard, USB ethernet, USB HDD, many other USB accessories...

Znester 7.1.4 for pdaXrom with Joystick support

Ok, I used as basis znester 7.1 source code, patch to 7.1.3 and then another joystick patch, which I modified a bit

To use the joystick, use --joystick parameter

Here is a sample quick info how the buttons on _my_ joystick are mapped.

The package itself:

http://z.drun.net/files/active/0/znester_7.1.4_armv5tel.ipk

You need this also:
(I think Meanie's package, but not 100% sure, just attaching it here)
http://z.drun.net/files/active/0/joyenabler_1.3.1_arm.ipk

Normally for running znester, you don't need the stuff below, only for recompiling it (optimizing, or in case my patch needs extending).

The patches (needed only for rebuilding):
http://z.drun.net/files/active/0/znester-7.1-3.patch (original one)
http://z.drun.net/files/active/0/znester-7.1.4.patch (mine)

original source code (apply patches to it)
http://z.drun.net/files/active/0/znester-7.1.tar.gz

BestCrypt 1.6.7 for pdaXrom beta3

I successfully compiled BestCrypt that can be used in pdaXrom, I use it since some time, works perfectly. I hope it does too for you

don't forget to symlink startup/shutdown scripts to /etc/rc.d/init.d/bcrypt
(or use it manually to load / unload bestcrypt kernel modules)

http://z.drun.net/files/active/0/bestcrypt....7_armv5tel.ipk

Bulgarian cyrillic phonetic input (applet)

I noticed there aren't much (any) bulgarian keymap layouts for the mb-applet-keymap out there.

So I got one russian and modified it  fixed some chars, and now it's bulgarian, even bulgarian flag is there.

http://z.drun.net/files/active/0/mb-applet....2_armv5tel.ipk

Add applet to your taskbar and you're ready to go

Images how the keys are mapped:

Sorry to muddy a sticky'ed announcement thread with yet another non announcement, but this should curb the posts.
Hopefully I'm not off base with this, but, there is a problem with attachments in the oesf forum right now. Hang tight and watch the site announcement threads.
Sorry to come across as a hard-ass but this thread is intended for pdaXrom software   announcements and non-announcements tend to muddy up the stream. Hope you understand.

-- Homepage: http://starvoyager.bluesky.me.uk/
-- Depends: sdl, sdl-net

1) Useful options: starvoyager -f (fullscreen) -s (standalone server)
2) Keymapping issue: The original sdl keymapping of F1-7 does not work for Zaurus (Fn+NUM combo fail even though I switch on the Function keys in akita.xmodmap). So I modified the sdl keysyms in presence.cc in the source such that F1-F7 in the game menu (called "computer mode" as in the startup screen) are remapped to i, j, k, l, m, n, o. These keys are free in the original mapping and it seems the code specifies a contiguous range in the sdl keysyms . For now I don't have the intelligence to figure out a more handy keymapping setting. Perhaps someone with the expertise can enlighten me here?
