Wanna Uninstall The Default Sharp Apps?
« on: April 04, 2006, 06:38:16 am »
I have created the ipkg entries for the default sharp apps so if anyone wants to uninstall the default sharp apps, then install sharp-pkg-c3100_1.5.ipk (inside the zip file).
Once you install this package, you will see the following entries in the Installer/Uninstaller (You can uninstall sharp-pkg-c3100 once it is installed. It won't be needed anymore):

hancommobilesheet
hancommobileword
sharp-mediaplayer
sharp-qtmail
sharp-translator
sharp-japanese-dict
sharp-textedit
sharp-todo
sharp-datebook
sharp-addressbook

You can then uninstall the sharp packages that you want to get rid off. This will remove them completely from your flash, so even if you do a factory reset, they won't come back. You will need to do a nand restore to get them back provided you had a backup or reinstall the sharp rom.
So be careful if you chose to use this. It's meant to remove the apps completely to give you extra space. And of course, always make a backup first.
USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

You might have to remount / as rw first before uninstalling the apps. Once you're done, you can remount / as ro.

you could, I tried to make it work for both models (but haven't tested it so it should work in theory), however, you won't gain as much from it on the C3000, since most the files are located on /hdd1 which is a ro partition. it would free up more space on /hdd1, but that won't be of much use to you since  nothing ever gets put there unless you are upgrading the sharp rom. it also removes some files from /hdd2 which is where all the apps get installed to so that would give you some benefit. also if you remove the translator, it also cleans out some files from /hdd3/dict1 which you could easily remove yourself.
