Hentges 3.5.4.1 For Collie

I am confused.

I found the feed. I am currently running Hentges 3.5.3 T3. That was releases as a system 'package'. This release appears to be back to a module by module format?

That said, I did not see the zImage or initrd releases for 3.4.5.1? Where are they?

Thanks - Dan

Check the subdirectories again. The header-text should make it clear what's inside.

For an old-style collie install you'd download the initrd.bin (collie/hentges-*-image*)
and one cardfs file (collie/cardfs/*)

Unless I'm mistaken, I can only see German files.  Are the English versions about to be uploaded?

mucho thanks coredump, the hentges roms have made using the zaurus easier for a non-developer type like myself to get everything up and running.

I can not find either a initrd.bin or a cardfs file in this path:

http://oz.hentges.net/hentges-feeds/3.5.4.1/machines/collie/

Am I looking in the right place?

Thanks - Dan

Now I have an error that I'm running the wrong kernel.  Kernel from http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/collie/k...60409201626.bin and initrd.bin from http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/collie/h...e_T1-RC4.tar.gz

You might want to get your eyes checked
[a href=\"http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/collie/cardfs/]http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/collie/cardfs/

and the initrd.bin is in one of the hentges-*-image files, just like in any previous release.

Thanks - It was the /tmp/do_not_use/ that did it.

I currently have an old cardfs image installed. That implies the SD directories exist and are in use.  Will a re-install work with these?

How is an upgrade from a previous version performed?

Thanks again - Dan

The cardfs installer will allow you to remove the old files.

Hi CoreDump,

I'm not having much luck with the latest version either. When I flash, the lights only come on for about thirty seconds, then go out. When I reboot, I get the error message about the wrong kernel. It seems to find zImage fine, and flash that, but not initrd.bin.

Attempts to tar -zxvf  hentges-opie-image-de-collie_T1-RC4-3.5.4.1-alpha2-collie.rootfs.ext2.gz
do nothing.

It unziped without error but ended up a 150 MB file.

Is this a tar file? Why does tar -zxvf not work?

Thanks - Dan

Er, because its not a tar file. Its a gzipped ext2 image. Tarballs are usually denoted by either .tar.gz, .tgz or .tar.bz2 appended to the filename.

Well, check the naming of initrd.bin then

Please read the header text of the directory you got that file from:
[a href=\"http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/collie/ext2/]http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/collie/ext2/

It points to a FAQ which explains what an .ext2 file is and what it is good for.

I have exactly same problems. I can easily flash OZ 3.5.4 distribution, but old-style hentges installation fails. Lights come on for 10 seconds, and that's it. I'm using zImage-collie-64-0-20060409201626.bin renamed as zImage and initrd.bin extracted from hentges-opie-image-de-collie_T1-RC4.tar.gz.

And yes, I have double-checked naming of initrd.bin.
