I have been test-driving OZ 3.5.4/GPE for last few days on my Zaurus SL-5500. I must say that I am favorably impressed: it has now at last reached a stage of reliability and smoothness where one can really switch to it from Opie. However, in the process I have encountered few annoying problems with GPE Contacts app:
1). When trying to import VCard data into the Contacts app, it ignores ROLE and BDAY fields. Nor does it fill in the BDAY field when exporting a user record as a VCard data.
2). A really showstopping bug, is that when I use Properties/Editing Layout menu to change the fields to display and edit in user records (e.g. to add a Nickname or a Job or an Occupation field), the program doesn't save the changes I make upon quitting. Next time I start the program, the editing layout is back to a default one. This is rather strange, as the changes I make in Properties/Setup menu get saved just fine.
3). Is there no option for beaming user records in/out as Vcards via IrDA? E.g. for exchanging contacts data with a mobile phone..?
The Contacts app is vital to PIM functionality of OZ/GPE and it is really a shame to have it mar an otherwise excellent setup.
I have a few more general questions about OZ/GPE:
1). Is there any way to resize menu windows..? In some File Chooser menus, the file selection part of the window ends up being just a few letters wide on SL-5500.
2). Is there any way to use BDF/PCF fonts for rxvt..? TTF look quite bad at low resolutions, plus I'd like to use 'fixed' fonts from XFree, as they can support Latin/Cyrillic/Japanese Kanji without a horrible memory overhead of running, say, Arial Unicode MS truetype font.
3). I haven't fiddled with it yet, but how do I add more layouts to the Virtual Keyboard..? Where are the layout files stored..? In particular I'd like to use a cyrillic-yawerty layout, would that be possible..?
4). Finally, is there any alternative to the rxvt for a terminal application..? In particular anything that could do on-the-fly full-screen mode switch, like the opie terminal does nowdays..?
Thanks in advance!
