OZ or not OZ
« on: February 23, 2004, 03:27:45 am »
Greetings all,

I am currently running the Sharp US rom version 3.10, and I\'ve been thinking to switch over to OZ. (I have a SL-5500D, with 128mb sd and 64mb cf). Currently I am using the IR port and my nokia 6310i to recieve my e-mail. I am a bit reluctant to switch to OZ, because my Z is the only working computer I have at the moment. (My wife occasionally allows me to use my cradle USB on her computer to store some files to/from my Z   ). So my question actually boils down to:

Why not switch to OZ?

There\'s no reason not to, but you may have some teething troubles. Assuming you save the scripts from /etc/ppp (and specifically /etc/ppp/peers) you should be able to get your connection back in no time flat, also assuming you know enough about pppd to debug any possible troubles. The same goes for installing opera, jeode and the hancom suite - all work, but you may need to do some searching of the forum to get them working properly.

That said, once you\'ve made the switch you won\'t go back (IMHO).

As an added bonus you\'ll be able to use your full complement of 32Mb of RAM which will make some apps easier to run (probably no need swapfile, etc.)
