Display Problems Running Opie Alongside Gpe
« on: May 12, 2006, 04:44:41 am »
I'm running it on a 3200, I've installed Opie 3.4.5.1rc2, then added GPE as per this guide on the openzaurus.org site.

It loaded and everything, I rebooted, now GPE somehow starts with the display partially going to Opie, i.e. when you press the menu button on the taskbar, the small GPE menu pops up, and behind it you see the Opie menu which is bigger popping up.

Similarly parts of the screen are Opie etc.

Did I do anything wrong? Anyone has experience with this?

Other than that it seems superb, would be great to run the two in combination.

How can I make this work?

The only thing I can figure is maybe I installed the wrong xserver, I installed xserver-kdrive-fbdev and the guide says you might install another one based on your model. Is this it? Should I unistall it and install another one?

I changed -terminal 2 to -terminal 3 in /etc/init.d/opie, I just double checked now.

But somehow they are running on the same terminal instance. If I open Console and type chvt 1, I just get to the OpenZaurus 3.5.4.1-rc2 SL-C3200 tty1 command prompt. From here chvt 3 brings me to the mixed Opie and GPE.

Hmmm, this is somewhat nightmarish...

It was fine, then I messed with redefining the silkscreen keys in GPE and got into the keylaunch bug thing described on the forum elsewhere, I think.

Then I couldn't log into GPE, it would throw me back to the login dialog in 5 secs or so.

So, I moved /etc/keylaunchrc to a backup and the same with /home/user/.keylaunchrc

Now Opie starts, I can then switch the GPE, but when I try to chvt back to Opie, I get:
Code: [Select]
Couldnt [sic] get a file descriptor referring to the consoleWhat's wrong now?
