Kernel Panic Trying To Flash Install Oz
« on: May 12, 2006, 09:08:58 pm »
I brought a 3200 in japan.

Installed terminal

Performed fdisk using teminal as per fdisk instructions for 2.6 kernel with spitz from http://openzaurus.org/wordpress/installation/sl-c3100/

the images were the 3.5.4.1 rc2 using gpe from http://ewi546.ewi.utwente.nl/tmp/hrw/3.5.4...2/images/spitz/

md5 checksums were correct on the sd card.
grabbed gnu-tar from:
http://www.pocketworkstation.org/files/gnu-tar.gz

Copied the 3 files, using the gpe one, renamed correctly and downloaded gnu-tar from pocketworkstation onto 256mb SD card (after formatting SD card in WinXP as FAT).

Followed the steps re: removing battery, pressing microswitch etc.

Selected the update options in maintainence screen,
HDD RO file system
now formatting
Now extracting

 and get an error
xf: not found

some further stuff, screen clears, and eventually get the following error:

Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init=option to kernel

Any ideas where I'm going wrong here?
