z does not keep time properly

Why is it that when I switch off my z it does not keep time properly.  Am I missing something really simple?

Which ROM are you using? and which machine?

Mine is fine (3.3.6pre1 on sl5500).

I\'m having the same time problem on my C860 - just turned it on and in 12 hours it gained about 8 minutes. sometimes it\'s fast, sometimes slow, sometimes right on -

sorry, should have been more explicit. my bad  :roll: it just seems like there\'s something very obvious I\'ve not set or something that I should have done.

5600 Sharp rom with the 250 premptive mod, I have the qtopia -sysinfo hack so it doesnt give me the exact rom version anymore, its the 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-emb... kernel downloaded from here. The one that removed the 250 bug fix. I\'m completely new to Linux, are the kernel and rom completely independant? if so I have the latest sharp rom of sharps site.

I\'ve done a little bit more investigation.  I cant seem to replicate the issue by suspending the z for a few minutes.  I always comes back up with the correct time.  Is it normal to see the set system time dialogue after a reboot?

It\'s just that every time I come to work the first thing I have to do is correct the time which is always out by several hours.  Maybe the z goes in to some deeper power saving mode after a longer period of time and then the clock freezes?

Mine does the same thing: sl5600 latest sharp rom. Although mine is usually losing time, sometimes it will go for a bit, then  loose several hours. Was wondering if there was an internal battery that may be the issue?

I think you might be right.  I\'m going to watch it a little closer over the next few days and if I can confirm its a hardware issue I\'ll return it to amazon.  I\'ll post a question to sharp support about this, might be a known fault.

i have problems with my 5600 clock not keeping time right i think it has something to do with programs locking up or crashing
does anyone else know any more?

Hello,

I know that, you must set the correct time from console without running apmd.
so boot first in console (not opie) and do the following:

#/etc/init.d/apm stop
#date -s xxxxxxxxxxxxx
#/etc/init.d/apm start
#/reboot

this will set the time correctly on my Z.
