Media Player Problems In Opie
« on: May 17, 2006, 04:14:58 pm »
There are two issues I am having with opie on 3.5.4.1RC2 wrt media playing:

1. No volume control with volume at or near max

There is an opie mantis entry for this to which I added my experience: http://opie-bugs.oszine.de/view.php?id=1765

2. I can't play ogg-vorbis files in opie-mediaplayer2. I can in xmms-embedded and opie-mediaplayer1 with the aforementioned volume issues. I also found an opie mantis entry related to this issue or the ipaq. Has anyone gotten player2 to work with ogg-vorbis files on 3.5.4.1-rc2?

As a comment, in general I have gotten used to desktop linux distros including ogg-vorbis support out of the box but omitting mp3 support (especially US-based distros). Is the reason for not including it out of the box in opie related to limited size for the images?

I observe the same problem with opieplayer2 on this ROM (OZ/Opie 3.5.4.1-rc2) -- I cannot affect the volume which seems to come out of the Z at max. Neither onscreen opieplayer controls, nor the volume applet, nor the buttons have any effect.

Same issue on GPE.  I would submit a bug, but can't figure out what package to submit it for.
SL-C1000 Akita running OZ 3.5.4.1 with GPE

Looking for advice as to how to get snes9x and dgen-sdl running!
