Kismet Of Wellenreiter On Sharp Rom?
« on: June 01, 2006, 09:22:58 pm »
This is so frustrating.  Has anyone gotten these working on the sharp rom?  I'm trying to get kismet-qt working but I have only been able to get kismet to work in the console, and in the console it only works for a couple of seconds then seems to stop.  Even then I have to have my card already connected to something for it to work.  Back on my 5600 it would just work.  I would plug in the wireless card, load kismet and it would start looking for aps.

I know I had wellenreiter working just perfectly right after I loaded the NAND backup.  Then after I updated from version 1.01 to version 1.02 of the japanese rom it stopped working.  I think.  WHY?

I have Kismet and Kismet-Qt working on my C860 Sharp ROM (did not succeed with Wellenreiter). I recall having to futz with the card settings a bit and have answered a question about such settings in this forum before. I have the same Dlink card as you do, as well as a Linksys. Both work.

It's got to be some kind of config issue.  I did a NAND restore a week ago and installed the wellenreiter from the cacko feed and it actually worked perfectly.  I was so happy.  Then, later on, my hard drive got corrupted some how and I had to reflash.  I was never able to get it to work the second time.  I even did a NAND backup of my new installation, Restored the fresh NAND from conics and tried to get wellenreiter working.  Nope, it just refused.  So I restored my current installation and am still trying to figure it out.  I know it was possible.  But how to do it is the mystery.

Does anyone know how the wifi connection on the sharp roms work?
I know that the config info for each connection is under /home/zaurus/Applications/Network/modules/
There are various scripts under /etc/pcmcia/ but I'm not sure which one it uses.
The wellenreiter from the cacko feed installs a script under /home/QtPalmtop/bin/wellenreiter which is supposed to set up the wifi card for use but fails on the sharp rom.
It tries to activate the card with:
Code: [Select]
cardctl scheme qpewlan0
cardctrl reset
And then it launches wellenreiter.  But on the sharp rom all that seems to do is reset the card, it doesn't turn it on and make it ready to scan.  So to get around that I just commented those two lines and brought the wifi card up manually through the network applet.

I want to know if there is a command that I can use to bring the wifi card up from the command line.  That way I can just have it back in that script and not have to worry about bringing my wifi card up each time I want to scan.
