Need Help Using Xi825 Wifi Card In Cacko 1.23
« on: June 05, 2006, 10:19:57 am »
Hi all,

Just received a XI-825 wifi card ... uses prism 2.5

It gets detected in OZ/GPE 3.5.4.1 and runs out of the box on my collie but is unknown in Cacko 1.23 full in my Akita.

Any ideas how to get the drivers loaded for this card? Thanks!

Setup it correctly in pcmcia configs (/etc/pcmcia/*.conf) and install proper driver (hostap_cs) - then it should work.

Thanks hwr. ... I see quite a few *.conf files in /etc/pcmcia/ directory and many of them seem to be the model or brand name of wifi cards. Do I rename them or do I install a relevant driver for my card?

Thanks!

ok ... I cp hostap_cs.conf from OZ and dump it into /etc/pcmcia ... and found from http://www.zaurususergroup.org/modules.php...lessCardSupport that new cards can be detected and added.

So I added in my own definition using the cardctl ident cmd to get the card info:

card "Adlink KF-11" <-- my own name for it
    version " ", "IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN/CF Card", ""
    manfid 0xd601, 0x0005
    bind "hostap_cs"

rebooting and trying it out ...

btw, anyway to reload the drivers without a reboot? Rebooting for drivers is so 90s!

hmmm ... now its detected as "Sandisk Connect SDWCFB-000" which is somewhat similar in config with the card. But the LED does not come on.

Sorry for the slightly noobish question but where is this directory?  "/etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.conf"  I tried in the terminal but nothing.

The directory is "/etc/pcmcia" and the file is wlan-ng.conf ... I later found that hostap works just fine.

Lego, are you using an 825 card? Let me know if you need help configuring it for Cacko.
