Problem With Old Application (bdicty) In 3.5.4
« on: June 07, 2006, 09:27:53 am »
Hello,

I used the BDicty dictionary from Beiks with my Sharp Rom on my SL5500. Now I have installed OpenZaurus 3.5.4 for collie and I want to be able to use BDicty. So:

- I have installed beiks-dictionary*** with the -force-depend option and there was no problem (only the warning)
- I have installed the sharp-compat-libs from the OpenZaurus 3.5.3 feed, as it is not available in the 3.5.4 feed
- I have used makecompat with the bdicty binary

I can start BDicty, the window appears, but there is no characters appearing in the windows (even when I type some). Moreover, the windows seems to "flash" sometimes.

If I start bdicty from the console, I have the following messages:

querying: /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/codecs/libaudiofileplugin.so
loading: /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/codecs/libaudiofileplugin.so
1 decoders found
Decompressed record is null 2

Is there a solution?

Sorry if the solution has already been posted, but I have not found it.

Thank you in advance,

Christophe

There's several other threads about why compat is no longer recommended, etc... but this particular problem can probably be solved as discussed in the Opera thread:

You are right, the solution is to install qpf fonts.

Thanks,
