Zbedic Dictionaries In Emacs
« on: July 15, 2006, 01:47:23 pm »
Anyone know if you can use Zbedic dictionaries for searching straight from Emacs.

From what I've gathered from Lookup's documentation, LookUp can access Dict dictionaries from emacs using the ndic search agent.

Dict webside isn't very lucid on the format, but it seems that Zbedic is somehow related to dict format?

However, I specified the Zbedic dict directory for the ndic search agent in .emacs but it doesn't seem to be working?

I can't seem to find very lucid info on the web?

Anyone done it? Is it poss?

zbedic and dict dictionaries are in two different formats, and as far as I know, you cannot use zbedic dictionaries with Emacs' dict lookup. Some zbedic dictionaries have been conveted from dict format but this is everything they have in common.

You can check freedict.org project for some scripts for conversion between different dictionary formats.

Yep, so I see. So far I haven't found any script for converting zbedic to dict, so it seems, I'm gonna have to convert them all by hand, unfortunately
