Install Oz On A Problematic C760
« on: July 30, 2006, 05:37:13 am »
I have a C760 that fails to boot and/or enter into the japanese flash update utility (probably dey to flash block errors).
The only thing that seems to be working is pdaXrom beta 4 (using the u-boot loader).
But once the u-boot loader is installed I can no longer enter the japanese flash utility anyway. Pressing OK at power on after reset produces only a boot to pdaXrom emergency system. I have attempted to get the updater.sh script running from there with no luck. I even decoced it but it fails anyway because the flash partitons do not match what the scripts expectse (how do you preformat flash before installing OZ ?).

How can I install OZ 3.5.4.1 on this PDA ?

Regards
David

Did you try a NAND restore of the Sharp image?

Doing a NAND restore (even after a full flash erase) says it's restored .... but then the only thing that the pda does is a nice black screen.
The only thing that I can currently install and boot is the pdaXrom 1.1.0beta4 with u-boot loader.
I would need a serial cable in order to do anything else whith u-boot ... anyone know where I can get one for a good price ?

I have done some investigation using tha extra menu .... and I have some bad blocks in flash.
I'v been told that the only way to put this wight is to have the flash replaced ... anyone had any such experience ?

Anyone have any other ideas less drastic than changing internal flash ?

It looks like they will 'not' ship electronics out of the US. See Product Restrictions:

Sorry
