Gaim
« on: February 29, 2004, 01:43:33 pm »
Has anybody gotten the x11 rom port of gaim working?

I\'m not getting any errors when starting it, it just seems to not be able to fine the protocols.  When I try to add an account the list is blank.  I see the protocol files on /mnt/card/lib/gaim.

I\'ve tried linking that folder to /usr/lib/gaim amd /mnt/card/usr/lib/gaim with no success.

I installed this on my SD card, maybe that\'s the problem?  Hopefully somebody can confirm this, I really don\'t want to install it on my flash.  If it doesn\'t work it looks like a messy uninstall.

This is what\'s working and what\'s not working in the current (check post date) version of GAIM:

IRC: Works fine.
ICQ: Works 99%, I have once had a bug where it wouldn\'t connect but a reboot fixed this
AIM: Works fine.
MSN: Does NOT work, there\'s a problem with the Secure Socket Layer modules, I\'ll pester sashz to fix this.
YIM: Yahoo! have been bastards and somehow stopped ALL non-official Y! clients from being able to send / receive data (but appear to connect fine). This probably won\'t be fixed for a long while yet and is down to the GAIM team, not the pdaX ROM dev\'s.

The other IM\'s I haven\'t tried as they are \"small time\" and not worth registering for  (IMHO)
