I Screwed Up Something Trying To Do Ipkg Upgrade
« on: August 07, 2006, 12:29:20 pm »
I stupidly tried to do an 'ipkg upgrade' on my SL-5500, running 3.5.4 GPE. It started giving errors about not having enough space(I should've thought about that first), so I ctrl-c'd out of it. It still boots, and seemingly still works, mostly anyway. The Text editor, and Image viewer(and presumably other stuff that came w/ the base GPE image) won't load, giving me the error

Code: [Select]
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.4.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-png.so: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory
is there an easy way to fix this? or do I need to re-flash? Can I reflash, and not lose data?

Chances are that this was the package being upgraded when it ran out of space - I presume this is a 5500/5000D?

Try rebooting a couple of times to let jffs2 do its magic and recover some space, then check there's sufficient free space and try a simple:

ipkg install gdk-pixbuf-loader-png

it should've just left the one's that ran out of space before it, right? That package is the one that I noticed it ran out of space, and hit ctrl-c on. There were probably 3 or 4 others that ran out of space before that one. Yes it's a 5500, and it was 1 in the morning, I normally know not to do that.

It will have successfully upgraded some packages - then you'll see it start moaning about a lack of space (or similar). Any of these packages, about which it was moaning, will have been uninstalled, but not re-installed, so you'll have to go through the list and re-install them (which has the added benefit of upgrading them too).
