Gprs Connection Instability
« on: September 02, 2006, 05:41:58 am »
Hi all.
I connect my zaurus with my phone over bluetooth and irda.
After some minutes (random, it takes 1min or 1hour), the connection become inactive. It doesn't go down, but no more byte are sent or received.
I don't understand why...

And if I want to use UMTS?
What I have to do?
How is possible break the limit of bluetooth (or irda) speed (5kbs against 50 of umts)?

I want to inform that Zaurus switch automatically in UMTS, but it's too slow...

I think becouse bt is very slow on Z.

The speed is about 10KBs in download.
Anyone can post some experience?
There are some driver that can improve bt speed?

Maybe USB-BT dongles will help. Or, if I'm correct, some clone of Billionton CF BT, which supports BT 1.2. I strongly suspect it's fake, but, if anyone is interested in such card, I'll post a link here.

P.S. With beta1 and Dillo my Socket BT/Nokia 6630 easily went up to 256 kbps (EDGE), so I'm almost sure it isn't software-related problem.

P.P.S. Yes, it's pretty unstable, connection ruins each 5-7 minutes, though once I was able to work ~25 minutes without problems.

My test:
Connection go down ONLY if I use gaim and another program (dillo, firefox...). It's very strange...

The speed is about 7-10KBs for file transfer and connection.
My cf is a dlink. My other device have a correct speed.
My linux desktop, with same bt dongle of winz, is very slow.
So I think that linux driver is the reason.

I have same problem with Nokia 6230i ... When I had SE T610 everything was OK, now I can connect to GPRS over BT but connection is down in 1 minute. I dont know if the problem is in Nokia's firmware or in Bluez driverz or in Billionton CF card.

The nokia's problem is known.
Also with palm the connection go down after 1minute, so this isn't a zaurus problem.
Anunakin, the reason of your speed is beta3 or 121 (I think).
Can you post the version of bt ipk that you use?
You can also send file? I can only receive...
I use also a bt dongle, but the speed with my beta1 is the same...

I use Nokia 6230b and built-in bt 1,1 module. Can stay for hours online and can drive for a few hours having internet connection uninterrupted on my Z. EDGE here is about 90-100kbps downstream on average day, so I'm waiting for UMTS/HSDPA available.
