How do I get hda4 (my MD vfat partition) to mount as a removeable disc over a USB link under pdaxii13?

Thanks

dan
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=147456\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

shouldn't it be hda3?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=147464\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

You'd think so, as its the 3rd partition, but there is no hda3 on my Z. I've not got the Z here but

hda1 = 1GB ext3 /
hda2 (I think) = 256MB swap
hda4 = fat32, whatever space was left

When I was using fdisk I only created primary partitions, made sure the types were set correctly and the fat partition was created as primary #3 but still ended up as hda4 regardless. Has nobody else had fdisk do this to them? Is it just a case of me editing usbfunction.py and changing any hda3s to hda4s?

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=147488\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

yes i got this problem when i reformatted with fdisk my hdd because i was not on a cylinder boundary....
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=147497\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

update fdisk, delete hdd4, reboot, create hdd3

Update fdisk? Which version do you recommend? Where do I download it ? Is it possible to permanently update the tools that are accessible when in D+B boot mode, that being the mode I use when partitioning.

Suppose I could always run this updated fdisk off a cf card anyway

Meanie:

The link on your page for the C3000 feed isn't working - there isn't a feed.tar.gz archive for the Cx000 feeds off of the PDAXrom site.

Also, for anyone trying to compile an offline feed using ipkg-make-index, you first have to make a subdirectory called "old" in the feed directory. Then cd into the feed directory and type:

ipkg-make-index . > Packages

I've got the base image installed and I"m trying the tetsu kernel.

When I plug my wireless card in I'm showing a huge pile of unresolved symbols in the messages log. I'm going to guess that we need to dump the tetsu kernel modules on the system in order to use the tetsu kernel, so I'll be trying that later today.

EDIT.

Nuts. Not the solution I was hoping it was - the download for the tetsu kernel doesn't include a lot of modules, including hostap_cs.o

ok, i updated all the files again.

new updater.sh and updater-tools.bin with newer version of fdisk instead of the older version in the emergency boot system

initrd.bin for both kernels have been updated slightly. it appears that the old beta1 kernel is better after all since the tetsu kernel will need to be recompiled with extra stuff which i am not planning on doing but if anyone else feels up to the challenge you are welcome to try. the new initrd.bin image should work with any tetsu compatible kernel.

i also updated the hdimage-base.tgz with some more basic customisations, and also uploaed hdimage-full.tgz for testing. this one is not finished yet, but has most customisations applied. you will notice a reboot option, openbox config tool and matchbox panel manager being also available.
fixed up a few keyboard mappings, got accessx config tool, ax, and also generated a welcome message. resume/suspend works flawlessly now, even the On/Off key works.

Sounds like it's going to be pretty good. I was hoping for the Tetsu kernel, just because I want iwmmx ;_; I'll reflash everything later and see how it turns out...

Dear Meanie,

xpdf, when maxed out, a portion of right hand side did not refresh.
abiword, when loaded with chinese document, shows "cannot load zh-tw
dictionary". slypheed can show chinese, however, so the system can
show chinese after loading ttf fonts to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF
directory and running fc-cache -v.

tetsu kernel, can drive cf io cards but not cf memory cards.
It seemed that cf memory card cannot get a valid irq. Will
load hd-param to test.

cf bluetooth works, as cf wireless lan, cf wired lan and cf modem cards.
(hint : use tetsu's modules)

ps. How do you enable USB host ? (for example, plug in a memory
card reader ?

BR,

Felix.

sounds good so far
I will add other pdf viewers such as epdfview and evince as they seem much better than xpdf
sorry about abiword, but I only included en spell checker for aspell (since that's the only one I have)
i only added bookdi and sunglobe ttf fonts. what other fonts do you recommend for chinese?
i have to check the usb host functionality. i thought it would just work since that should had been standard pdaXrom feature in beta3 ...

The meaning of these sentences is this.

I have not installed this ROM yet.

I think that it copies the file of ROM onto my site.

Great! A new release!

I'm going to try repartitioning my MD with the updated installer and installing tetsu kernel and the core or custom hdimage tonight.

I have a few questions for those who already installed the new version

Does bvdd work under the b2 kernel now? If its a case of having to find the correct module does anyone know where to find a bvdd module compiled for this kernel?

Does the custom image restart x or log out when you select 'Exit' from the mb-menu?

What version of mplayer comes with the new custom image?

I've just got into work and can't wait to get home and find out y'see

EDIT

Also, what version of the Tetsu kernel has Meanie posted on the pdaXii13 download page? Just so I know what version of the kernel modules to install if it comes to that later.

B2 kernel is the kernel that was included in the PDAXrom for C3000 beta 2.

Among other things, the Tetsu kernel includes support for the wireless MMX instructions in the strongarm. Coupled that with an iwmmx-enabled media player and you have, hands down, the best way of playing movies on the Z.
