Sl-c1000 Usb Options
« on: November 28, 2006, 10:05:31 am »
Hello all,

I have ordered my new sl-c1000 and was wondering what are my options concerning support with usb devices. I have read that the sl-c1000 can work with a number of usb devices as long as it has a powered hub. I have a few questions maybe some of you experts out there can answer for me.

I have a DWL-G122 wireless usb key, are the drivers for this device supported by pdaxrom?

Are usb flash memory keys supported and can they run without a powered hub.

Are there any usb mice out there that work without a powered hub?

What is the usb power output for a sl-c1000?

How many usb devices can one run from an usb hub at the same time?

Thanks,

VirtusRex

No, not as of yet...

Most of them will... like the typical sandisk "stick" usb thumb drives

Any standard "ball" usb mouse will work... I dont of any specific intelli mice that work  or not... but I heard that some do work... Now usb wireless mice are iffy... but do not buy the microsoft mini notebook mouse... doesn't work....

No clue... search and you will find it... I've seen it before...

I'm assuming 126 devices... since that is the usb standard on 1 bus... but by no means am I suggesting for you to go out and by 126 devices to connect to your Z...

My Maximum is 4: 1 mouse, 1 ethernet adapter, 1 keyboard, 1 stock. WIth no need of plug the hub external power cable.

They are making the powered usb hubs smaller, I actually use one made by miro that is smaller than my lighter, minus the ac adapter. To date, I have never had problems hooking anything up to it.

I got one of these last month from cyberguys dot com
"Iogear Slim 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub" (powered hub)
It works well and has 500Ma output on the USB ports.
To use a slim CD/DVD drive, you need to plug in 2 USB connectors to the hub.
Both connections supply power for a total of 1000Ma and one of the connectors supplies the data.
This particular drive comes with a "USB-Y" cable
