Cacko ROM Question
« on: March 05, 2004, 09:33:28 pm »
I absolutely love the new 7xx ROM fro Cacko. Works really well on my 860. I was wondering if there is a file browser for it? I know there is one in the feed, but that is for the 5xxx and it rotates to use. Is there one foe the 7xx?

Thank you for the help.

You can use the one for 5xxx... hold your stylus on the icon for about 2 seconds and uncheck \"Display with magnified mode\"

I\'m using AdvanceFM by doing that w/o any problems.

Even with the C7x0 keyboard you can\'t beat the command prompt as a file manager, at least until someone releases one that doesn\'t require the mouse and supports regexps

With my C750s screen I use MC (midnight commander) as a file manager and text editor. I didn\'t even install the apps I\'ve built myself for the 5500

With MC I\'ve noticed that the mouse doesn\'t work in QKonsole since the new ROM. Mousing seems to select text in MC - maybe the konsole is intercepting it? Otherwise, the new ROM is awesome!

Is there a MC compiled for the Qt ROMs? The MC that was compiled for the X11 ROM will accept screen taps, however, I haven\'t found a MC version that for the QT ROMS that works as well. However, I find that using the key board with MC is still superior to Tree Explorer QT.

I am new here on this board and just got a Zaurus C1000. I am using the new Cacko version 1.23 full and have both MC (included) and Tree Explorer QT Plus (tried the non plus version, same issue) installed.  I would like to get further knowledge of the internal keyboard to maximize the use of MC which is certainly one of my favorite programs on desktop linuces. I will endeavor to learn the keyboard of this new machine in all its nuances.  I have an issue with Tree Explorer, which I think is an awesome gui file manager and am excited to work with more. The issue is that I have boxes where there should be characters.  These look like place holders for characters and i suspect a font issue, but am not certain. They appear in the menus, title bars and in the window.  I just noticed that they are in a companion program Tree Text QT as well.  All the features work that i have tried (but i am reluctant to try many not knowing what i am clicking on).  I really dig the look of these programs and all the tiny icons.  I am wondering if my installation is missing something (library, font, etc.) to make this work or if anyone else has overcome this can help me get to the bottom of this.  Thanks for your patience and knowledge.

Ok, now I feel like a real newbie.  I mean I always "knew" I was, but I just did something to make me "feel" like one.  Anyway, I looked thru the menus and found a Language submenu, and well ... yeah, its fixed.  Turns out the program is shareware.  I will use this some more see if it does what i need, cut, copy, and paste files. If so I will register it as so far it looks to be commercial quality software.  Sorry to have disturbed you guys. I will continue to read in silence for a month now, unless I have a "real" problem.
