Pdaxii13 On C3100
« Reply #60 on: February 10, 2007, 11:15:54 am »
I've just updated the first post to reflect bugs present in 5.3b

Since 5.2, the USB settings bug (listing 6 CF devices on 3100/3200) has been fixed, FireFox seems to be working fine OOTB now and the keys on the side of the Z now work fine under XMMS.

However, in 5.3b xmms doesn't work until you install libXau, c3100/c3200 owners still have to wait a long time for pdaXii13 to boot, CAPS LOCK still doesn't work and I would still recommemnd people uninstall the scim packages unless they need them.

I have not yet been able to test for the unwanted USB keyboard bindings as I currently don't have a USB adapter or keyboard so I have just left that bug in for the moment. I would be grateful if someone could test this out and let me know if all those keys still launch the (previously) associated apps.

Meanie:

I was very disappointed to see you decided to remove the UK USB keyboard driver from 5.3. It makes absolutely no sense that you should include scim - which is MUCH bigger and has a serious detrimental effect on pdaX for all those who don't require it - yet you don't include a 2kb keyboard driver that is pretty much essential for all UK users and wouldn't cause any problems or complaints if it was included.

You can of course just say 'its easy- just download it from the repository' but this is truly one of the greatest, most common weaknesses of many a Linux distribution in that they often presume that everybody has internet access 24/7 when this is not the case. It would be best if pdaXii13 was fully usable after install even if you don't have an internet connection and the inclusion of this tiny file would make a big difference to me and all the other UK Z users. Please include every USB keyboard mapping that you have in 5.3 final.

Thanks!
